I am a puppy mill pup...
The view of life, and animal rights activism, from a puppy mill puppy.
Why are you attacking me??
I ask these people, "what did I ever do to you?".
They label me a "reject". Ummm..I am a dog, a victimized dog. Out of all the dogs out there, I need a home more than anybody else. Let's examine that, shall we?
*Dogs in a shelter: These dogs have constant care, and a staff to wait on them. They are getting all of the veterinary care and love, that I am not. Yes, they need homes, but they are "OK" for now. Will some be put down? Of course, that is going to happen in all situations. We can't all find homes, but that doesn't mean we should only try to save one group, does it?
*Breeder Dogs: Most breeders still love their dogs. If one doesn't find a home, they will either keep it, or give it away for free. They typically do make sure their dogs are healthy and well cared for. (Of course there are exceptions, but that really applies to anything.)
*Pet Store Dogs: These dogs are also well cared for. A pet store is under legal obligation, and can face fines, or even being shut down, if they don't care for their animals properly.
*And now, me. The puppy mill puppy: No one governs my keeper. He does not have to do anything for me. After I hit 6 weeks of age, I have 3 choices: Sell, Breed, or DIe. I may be sick, he does not care. I may not sell, he does not care. If I get too big, I will be put to sleep, if I can't be used for breeding. After all, he has 10 more litters due tomorrow. And I will not be put to sleep humanely, like the ones at the shelter. I am thrown in an overflowing cage. so packed with dogs, that we cannot move. The ones on the bottom will eventually smother, and rot. I will sit on those when I get to the bottom, and a new layer will be thrown on top of me. No food, no water, and a vile stench until I die.
So, I guess if I were to put it in the big picture, where are my rights? These people claim to be activists for "animal rights". If that were true, shouldn't they be punishing my keeper, and not me, the animal??
So, are they animal rights activists, or just control freaks?? A true animal rights activist will get off their butt, and get others together to fight for laws to shut down my keeper. In doing so, I would be transferred to a safe place, and regain my right to a happy home. They would never deny ANY animal the right to a happy home.
A control freak will try to control what happens at my keepers, and not really do anything constructive to fix the problem. Which ultimately leaves only me, to suffer. This person is a hypocrite. They will cry about how sad it all is, when you show them my picture, and still tell you not to give my brothers and sisters a home!
Simply put: If you refuse me a home based on where I was BORN, you are actually worse than my keeper. At least he was giving me a chance to escape. YOU are the one who took it away.

- Well written and sad all at the same time. I have 9 rescues in my home and understand all to well. I wish I had room for a hundred more.
