How to Use a Puppy Training Crate
Don't be alarmed.
While a training crate can look like a bit of a prison to the human eye, from a dog's point of view, it should be a very nice place to be indeed.

What a Puppy Training Crate is
...and what it must not be...
A puppy training crate is a valuable piece of "furniture" for your dog.
It is a safe haven for puppies and dogs to have their own space and place - think of it as a modern day doggy den or a fully enclosed dog bed.
The training crate should hold toys and soft bedding material to be comfortable and welcoming for your pup.
The puppy training crate is a place where your dog can still see people and be part of the family.
It can be a secure home away from home when you need to travel or stay away overnight with your puppy.
The training crate is a great aid in potty training dog or puppy. Dogs are clean animals and will not voluntarily soil where they sleep or play. But keep in mind your dog is a baby and will have accidents; you can't put a puppy in a crate for hours and expect them to "cross their paws and hold on".
The training crate is your dog's private hang out and this sanctuary helps her to overcome feelings of loneliness or anxiety when you are not about.
What a Puppy Training Crate is NOT
The training crate should never be used as a punishment for your pup - if your dog links her little home to anything negative, she won't want to be there.
This crate is your dog's private room - it cannot be a place where children play or she is disturbed by people poking at or rattling the walls.
The training crate is not a convenient holding pen to keep your pet out of sight, out of mind. Your puppies training dictates plenty of social time with her family and fun and interesting exercise, not incarceration!
