Purple Star Art

As some of you may know, I found a real passion for Squidoodling, or creating graphics using the Squidoo Logo and Mascot. It's been a great way to get the creative juices flowing, and quite simply, to just have fun with it!

Although it's always been a thrill when someone could use one of my Squidoodles in their lenses, or asked for something special, some of the biggest thrills came when I started being awarded Purple Stars on some of those lenses. So in appreciation of the honors, I've put together a lensography of my Purple Star lenses.

I also wish to extend my gratitude to everyone that had a tentacle in awarding these Purple Stars. Thanks, if it weren't for Squidoo, I wouldn't be having this much fun!

A Purple Primer

Outside of hoping to have your works picked as Lens of the Day, the most sought after honor is the Purple Star. These days, knowledge of the award is learned about quickly by the young squids. Once you have a lens nominated and chosen, you get the opportunity to submit a suggestion of your own. Sort of like paying it forward to the next lucky recipient!

Once upon a time...

Purple Star lenses... these used to be the only ones I had...

When the Purple Star Awards began at Squidoo, the only ones that were eligible were Giant Squids. Unfortunately that left me out of the running along with many others since I didn't have enough lenses to qualify as a Giant . Somewhere along the line, the decision to award them to all Lensmasters became a reality, and before long I had the pleasure of receiving my first honor.

The following modules feature the Squid Art lenses that proudly display the Purple Star

The first Stars appear

I suppose that i was extremely lucky that when the Stars decided to shine, I had two of them pop up at the same time. The first one shown contains a little background on how I got started with all of the Squidoodles. The second one to garner the honors is Squidville, my favorite town. It was this lens that started my collection of more detailed scenes and the challenges that came with it.

Look, it's another Star!

This Star appeared in the skies over The Squidsonian Institute just days after the Grand opening. Although one of the exhibits features a telescope for looking at Purple Stars, I never thought one would appear overhead, at least not so quickly.

The Purple Stars continue....

Just recently, I had another of my Squidoodle lenses garner the purple honor. This lens was actually the second in the series of Squid Art which I called Squid Art Too...the Sea Quell. At the time, I had no idea I would fill so many lenses with my quirky graphics, but I can honestly say I've had an absolute blast in doing so.

A Purple Star shines over the nations...

September 12th, and another Purple Star appears in the Squiddom. This time, it shines brightly over the entire group of Squid Nations. Stemming from a suggestion offered by a fellow Lensmaster, this lens has really been fun, and like all of them will always be a work in progress.

The latest celestial sighting....

On February 26th, 2012, more honors were bestowed on Squidland for the merchandise at the local Squal-Mart. Another fun lense that was born out of a suggestion from another lensmaster. My thanks to everyone involved!

An honorable mention, but perhaps the most important one with a Star!

Although this is not a lens full of Squid Art, it is the one that started it all and I'm proud to say it is also a Purple Star recipient. It's the reason I found Squidoo in the first place, and although I have fun playing with my one-eyed squids, all of proceeds from my lenses go to this wonderful cause.

Has the Purple Star SquidFairy visited you?

Besides having such an honor bestowed upon one of your lenses, it also gives you the opportunity to make your own suggestion for the next star to be awarded. Don't give up hope yet if you haven't received one, there's always someone looking to spread a little Purple Love amongst the Lensmasters.

I agree with what vallain has suggested, these are really cute and would look great on mugs, t shirts, place mats, really nice lens

Very nice selection of purple star lenses. May I suggest that you put your squidoodles on zazzle products too. Some lensmasters may buy them, but Zazzle affiliate lensmasters would feature them on their lenses also.

What better time to ask?

After all, inquiring minds want to know...

I know that my squidoodles don't appeal to everyone, and many have wonderful lenses that do not lend themselves to artwork created with the Squidoo logo unless it's aimed toward lensmasters. However, I've been pleasantly surprised at the number of lenses that have one of my creations or one by someone else, so with that in mind...on to the poll!

The complete collection of Squidoodles

While all of them don't have a Purple Star, they all feature graphics created with the Squidoo Logo and Mascot. They're all available for use on lenses, so if you're looking for one to live on one of yours, you might be able to find the perfect one amongst this collection. if none of them seem to fit, give me a shoutr and I'll be happy to see what I can do!
