Who would have thought?
Am I excited? You bet! Are you excited? I can imagine that you are, judging by the responses I've received.
Before I go any further, I want to personally congratulate you on your outstanding lenses - and this goes for all purple star recipients, regardless of which lens you are featured on. Your lenses continue to inspire others and I am, personally, looking forward to seeing a host of other wonderful, outstanding lenses each week as the purple stars come trickling in.
Anyway, I have a few other lenses to place in the spotlight so I shall continue with my journey into seeing more purple stars.
Thanks go to Steve Thompson for permitting me to use his various Squid characters throughout my lens.

This May Pose A Challenge
To receive a purple star, you had to become a Giant Squid first.
Now, it's time to put your thinking cap on...but please try not to give yourself a headache.
You received news that you became a Giant Squid. You also received news that you received a Purple Star Award.
Which news affected you more, in terms of your reaction?
Becoming a Giant Squid

I have received a Purple Star but have not been told that I have become a Giant Squid (although I applied as soon as I made my 53rd Lens (53 to give a bit of leeway for the ones that were not so popular!). I did not realize that the two things were linked, so perhaps this augures well for me and I should expect good news shortly.
Definitely getting news that I have been chosen to be a Giant Squid would be the news that thrills me most, as I have been striving for it since I missed the previous deadline.
So I'm keeping my fingers and toes crossed for the big news!

I was in on one of the Giant Squid competitions last spring, so it was a race then crossing my fingers that my lenses were deemed worthy, which they were, much to my relief.
Honestly, receiving my first purple star completely was under the radar for me. I didn't realize my Make Your Own Charcoal had a purple start until I got your comment! [Blush]

Every "special" accomplishment I've achieved on Squidoo has been a real thrill. I'm a Giant Squid 100 member with a couple LOTD and 6 Purple Stars. I've been nominated for annual awards also, and that was truly an honor as well. It's all been an interesting experience, and it just keeps getting better. I'm thinking I may try out for a set of angel wings this year.
