Purple Star Creations

Welcome back!

I don't wish to let you stray too far away; in summary, I like your companionship too much so, while I have the opportunity, I would like to keep bringing you back as often as possible. I presume that's OK with you because, once again, you've decided to land in my space, without needing to go on MySpace. Please, pardon the pun!

Once again, this lens will feature you because, essentially, my Purple Star Series would not be possible without your input and support. I truly do appreciate the time we spend together here; I enjoy learning about you and spotlighting your Squidoo talents. I like to boast about your work because I believe you do an outstanding job!

Anyway, lest you become bored, let's continue to move along and I surely hope you enjoyed Steve Thompson's various Squid characters who, for the most part, live in Squidville. I think I would enjoy living in Squidville, too!

Let Me Ask You A Question...

I'm becoming famous for that, hey?

Introducing "Purple Squids"

March 15, 2010

I must admit to spending at least 45 minutes purely using my imagination or, briefly, perusing lenses. I decided to write a poem to bring smiles, delight and, possibly, laughter to you, those Purple Squids I know a little better than the others.

Please don't feel upset if your name (or variation thereof) is not stated here; it simply means I haven't had the pleasure of getting to know you quite as well as I have some of the other lensmasters, and fellow Rocket Moms. However, I'm sure that, no matter who reads this, they will enjoy this little poem - in tribute to my Purple Squids.

In fact, each of these lensmasters have been featured somewhere in my Purple Star Series.

“The time has come!

May I introduce to you
some outstanding...”

Purple Squids

Heather 4 26
Is surely oh, so fine;
She's blessed with purple stars -
It seems like all the time.

Beth d 8 21
is good to have nearby;
Alas, with no needle
Or I will heave a sigh.

BarbRad is marvelous
She's helpful as can be.
Do you have a problem?
This gal will hear your plea.

Tipi, too, is wonderful;
She always does comes through.
She features others' talents -
And then they say, "Ya-hoo!"

OhMe sure loves her home -
She lives in Pendleton.
You've heard the name before;
If not, where have you been?

Cross creations is her name
She loves dogs! Yes, it's true.
She really loves Goldens;
She wants them all rescued.

Happy nutrition ist
Is faithful as can be.
She does her best to shine
For souls like you and me.

_Joan_ is another gal
Whom I would like to meet.
She seems so hip and cool;
She really is a treat.

Sandy spider is unique -
Appears with spider legs
She is found everywhere;
My goodness! I'm amazed!

Leanne Chesser's passion
Is helping those in need.
She volunteers her time
So she can plant a seed.

Joan4 is truly awesome;
She helps this Rocket pal.
She provides ideas;
They're making my heart swell.

Prosperity 66 -
She has a heart of gold.
Surely, she's an angel!
Tell me: where's her mould?

Who is 24 websurf?
Chocolate lover, to be sure.
That's only half of it;
There's much more to her core.

Ramkitten likes to hike
For long stretches of time.
Sometimes I sit and marvel
For life - it is sublime.

My new pal's name is Spook;
I wonder why the name...
He's special as he is;
His spirit is so tame.

Good job, Giant Purple Squids.

I hope you don't take offense to the term purple squid.

That's the way I've begun to think of the Giant Squids who have been featured in my lenses.

Granted, there's an extra special feeling toward those who keep coming back.

Contacts Outside of Squidoo

All of us know so many people and, believe it or not, most of them have never heard about Squidoo! Seems unimaginable, hey? Nonetheless, it's true.

I am wondering about the reactions you get from non-Squidooers.

How do people react when you mention that you're a Giant (now purple) Squid?

You're out of your mind!

ElizabethJeanAllen says:

My friends and family look at me like I'm crazy. My students know I'm crazy.

24websurf says:

They say "Giant what?" Like with Heather they think I'm in some cult :)

sandyspider says:

Purple Star for what? (Rolling eyes)

LeanneChesser says:

Most people nod and look at me like I've lost my mind. Some realize my passion and accept it as something I like to do. No one really gets it!

Norma_Budden says:

At first, most people raise their eyebrows because of the name, asking, "What the heck is Squidoo? Sometimes people laugh - but when I tell them what an awesome site it is and begin to tell them the kinds of lenses I come across - and create - they begin to get excited for me.

Tell me more!

Tipi says:

I haven't told anyone that I'm a Purple Squid yet, but they sure laugh when I say I'm a Giant Squid. I have said I got a Purple Star though. :)

BarbRad says:

They don't quite understand the excitement I feel, but most now understand it's an honor and they should be happy for me.

bethd821 says:

Robin gave me a Giant Squid t-shirt. I get asked about it frequently. Hopefully, I'll have some new recruits out of it.

OhMe says:

Would you believe that the Mayor of our little town talked about Squidoo at our Friends of the Park meeting. I think Squidoo is becoming a household word in Pendleton.

Purple Star Poem

Twinkling Bright

The purple stars are twinkling bright.
I look at them most every night.

They look so small yet mean so much.
The Giant Squids enjoy them such.

They trickle from the Squidoo throne.
When they arrive, there is no groan.

Keep striving for the purple stars.
Good job! Well done! Let's aim for Mars.

    I think you have a nifty niche here! One of the most generous things you can do is is to spread the wealth and promote others. I think you have done a superb job of that here!

    I have my Purple Stars list in my main (longest lens ever) lensography. But have yet to make one just for this.
  • Norma_Budden Mar 16, 2010 @ 9:59 pm | delete
    Well, when the time comes, I'd love to promote it.
  • LeanneChesser Mar 16, 2010 @ 7:01 am | delete
    I have plans to create a purple star lensography once I have more than two purple star lenses . . . I'll be back!
