    I think work that has been well done should be rewarded. It is recognized in other areas, why not here? Sometimes it is a real boost of encouragement that comes just at the right time. I prayed that good things would happen to me one night, and the next day I got word of my first purple star. It came just when I needed it...and God knew it would make my day.

    I really like this lens. I'm relatively new to squidoo and I'm really trying to network with other lensemasters. I still don't know if I understand the purple star thing, but I want my lenses to get one!

    I love purple stars, because it's a pat on the back, encouragement for writers to do their best. I think purple stars awards are a good thing for the Squidoo community.

    I loved purple stars from the very beginning. It's nice to be recognized for that extra-mile put in certain lenses. Nicely done & great resource. ***Angel blessed*** during my epic Back to School Bus Trip quest :)

    A very nicely done Purple Star Lensography, AJ. I'll come back and add mine when its up to snuff, but I have gotten 23 Purple Stars on lenses. Its always such an encouragement to get them. ~ Love the way that you have put this together, I have work to do.

    I think that the purple stars are great. I have 2 so far. tried to leave them in your plexo but it kept saying that I was not signed in. Oh well.

    great read, well written, deserving of a Purple Star. Only a matter of time before Squidoo releases Gold Stars and then all Purple Stars instantly become devauled.

    I am not sure why HQ would want to do that? You could have gold stars that you could work towards after a lens has had a Purple Star, but again, I dont see HQ doing it - why try to "fix" something that is working as well as it is?

    I can't even tell you how thrilled I was to get my first Purple Star.
    But what I love even more about the program is that as a Purple Star recipient, I got to
    pay that forward by nominating someone else's lens.
    I think it's a wonderful program and has helped me have a greater understanding of
    the Squidoo philosophy.

    I think Purple Stars show appreciation from Squidoo HQ that you have put your heart and soul into a lens and created something well worth reading. I have a few now and they are all on lenses where I have put some of my experiences into each one. Congrats on the Purple star!

    This is such a nice lens! I received my first purple star last week and was SO excited -- it really made me feel like my hard work was being noticed and appreciated. I've only been on Squidoo a few months and it's hard not to get discouraged at the beginning; I knew I was making good lenses but I felt like no one was paying attention. My purple star really helped give me a boost mentally.

    I was so flabbergasted and grateful to receive a purple star on my Halloween Cocktails lense. Since then, I've been trying to be a good Squidizen and making notes whenever I see a purple star-worthy lense. Thanks for this great lense!

    I like the purple star program and love to read through the weekly list of recipients, though I don't always get to visit all of them. When I run across a purple star lens, I feel quite assured that it's going to be a good lens, well presented, whether I have a particular interest in the topic or not. Congratulations on yours, all very worthy!

    I love Purple Stars and earned my first one just a few days after becoming a Giant. I'm still thrilled!! I think the Purple Star program fairly awards the best of the best. I'm honored my lens is among the current Purple Starred lenses.

    I love purple stars - I received my first one a short bit after turning Giant this year and I was thrilled to bits.     Zeven purple stars? Wow. Are you the purple star queen or is there someone out there with even more?

    I'm quite happy with 4 purple stars, but I would be so happy if one of my spiritual lenses would get a purple star (or a LOTD would be even nicer). You know... why does it always have to be that non-spiritual lens of mine that gets the badge?

    So... I could not resist submitting a few of my favorites :)

    The purple star program is perfect! I love what Bev said earlier, "I feel that Purple Stars are nominated by people who have passed the test of being a Giant...they recognize GREAT work when they see it." That makes us all on the purple star committee and seriously, who doesn't feel excited and special when they receive one.

    Congratulations on all of your well deserved purple stars! You write awesome lenses and I am definitely watching for that "Rat" lenses:) Angel Blessed and added to my Mouse Tracks lens. Do you mind if I place this lens under the duel category on my lens? I would love to invite more participation. Just let me know of that is not ok with you.

    Congratulations on all your purple stars! This is a great question to ask because it makes us examine why the purple star program is there to begin with. Personally, I think it is a great way to highlight quality lenses, not necessarily the highest ranked. So far, I think it does an excellent job in doing just that.

    I found this lens on your signature line in the forum, and heard about your purple star on Twitter :) I too love the purple star warm and fuzzy feelings, and had never nominated one until I nominated yours. I may be dead wrong, but when I heard you got it for that great lens, I think I was doing the happy dance with you (but across the ocean). Congratulations!

    As to how the program is run...I read all the comments in the Plexo, and have no problems with how it is managed. It is so easy to judge how something is done, but until you do it yourself you just don't know all the idiosyncrasies. Just because we nominate doesn't mean they will be chosen!

    I get so excited when I receive a Purple Star. It is almost like getting a raise! It really makes me feel great although for the last two times, it doesn't reflect on my lensrank but I guess that means that if I had not gotten a purple star my lensrank would have really dropped.

    Anyone can nominate a lens, but only Giants can be awarded purple stars. Found that out when I nominated a lensmaster with less than 50 lenses. :)

    Correct me if I'm wrong. Not everyone can nominate a lens for a Purple Star. I thought that only Giant Squids have the ability to nominate and that only Giant Squid lenses can be nominated. It is one of the "perks" for earning Giant Status.

    Bev, thanks for raising this and I should have made it more clear that the Purple Star programme only applies to Giant Squids. I have now added that clarification in some of the modules.

    I should also add that I have double checked and while only Giants' lenses are eligible for a Purple Star, anyone can nominate.
