It Doesn't Take a Ph.D to Learn How to Putt Better...

Putting better is quite a simple concept actually: "Get the ball in the hole!" But, as we all know, it isn't nearly that easy. You could hit the best drive and approach shot in the world but three putt and get a bogey for the hole (now a bogey's not terrible but let's say that you don't hit the best drive or approach shot in the world).

Putting never came naturally or easily to me. It was always something that I had to work at. But after practicing some simple putting drills on the practice green, I was surprised to see how much my scores dropped and my confidence rose!

Let the Weight of the Club do the Work to Putt Better...

Read on below to learn how to use the weight of the club to your putting advantage

Now I hope that you don't have a putter made out of feathers or else this won't help you out. But I am assuming that you don't, so that's good.

Now, while you are putting, pretend that your shoulders, arms, and hands are a single pendulum that swings due to the weight of the putter. Try to let your shoulders swing back the putter and from there, the weight of the putter should do the rest. This simple tip will help cancel out muscles that could alter the putting path.

Will a Blade or Mallet Putter Help You Putt Better?

Does one type of putter help you putt better than the other? Read below to find out...

Now the two main classes of putters are blade putters(the thin ones) and mallet putters(the thicker ones). Can either one help you putt better?

The truth is that, as I have said before, everyone has their own individual putting styles. So therefore, everyone might prefer a different putter. But yes one of the putters might help you putt better, but it is completely up to you. So...

Go to the local club store or country club and ask to demo a blade putter and a mallet putter. While putting with each, ask yourself "Which one is more pleasing to the eye, which feels better in my hands, how does the grip feel, etc..." Choosing a putter that you feel comfortable with is very important to learning how to putt better.

But if you are truly serious about putting better, then click here to discover simple drills that I used to get rid of my 3 putts and have more 1 putts!

1 Simple Tip That Helped Me Putt Better

Follow this tip to get rid of those pesky 3 putts

This is helpful when you are faced with a relatively long putt. Make sure you read the break and get a feel for how fast the green is, how hard you need to putt the ball, etc...first!

So, something that has always worked for me, is: don't putt the ball past the hole, if anything leave it a little short. This will help you to not blow the ball past the hole into a different section of the green, with different breaks and such, etc...

But click here to see the best putting resource that I have ever come across, which helped me make a lot more putts!
