Do Qatar salaries make looking for a job in Qatar worthwhile?
At the time of writing the salary of jobs in Qatar is influenced by the dollar peg. The falling dollar has dragged down the real value of job salaries as well as stimulating inflation.
In fact, some job agencies have found difficult matching workers to positions because of this.
However, it is looking increasingly likely that the dollar peg will be dropped, which would lead to a revaluation of the riyal and a hopefully enable the government to get inflation under control by increasing interest rates.
There are also rumours of a large salary rise, at least in the public centre. Dubai has recently raised salaries by 70%, and the job market between Qatar and Dubai is extremely competitive.
In the meantime, many workers will still find a Qatar job worthwhile, while a revaluation and/or salary increase would give an added bonus.

Does having a job in Qatar restrict your freedom?
Before applying for a job in Qatar remember that you will have to have sponsorship. Your employer will be your sponsor, and without your sponsor's permission you can not leave the country, take out a bank loan or apply for another job.
In fact, in theory at least, you have to work for your sponsor for two years before you are allowed to apply for another job in the country, and if your employer bans you, you will not be allowed to return to the country to apply for another job for a further two years, although you will be able to return on a tourist visa.

Will the salary be enough?
