Aussie Timber Beauties
Visit almost any Queensland town and you're sure to see a Queenslander house.
They're very distinctive - a stately, often rambling, timber house on wooden stumps with a corrugated iron roof and shady verandahs. Some are very simple with very little decoration past a coat of paint, while others are quite fancy and liberally decked out with ornate ironwork and wooden features.
I have always had a fascination with the Queenslander's architecture. I grew up in one and my husband and I now own our own. They have an atmosphere about them that very few modern houses can match. I love how even in the smallest detail there is some thought to decoration and every room is a visual and tactile experience.
I've created this lens to bring together all the information and resources I have collected on these stately Queensland icons.

- Hi Sammie - well I caught you on Twitter via a post about Redgage. Love this lens. We live in a renovated 1929 Queenslander in Bulimba, Brisbane. Heading your way (Ipswich) tomorrow to run some workshops. I'm now addicted to both RedGage and Squidoo. I have built a lens about how to earn on RedGage and another that is a Guide to RedGage Tutorials.

- We've been renovating our Queenslander for the last three years in Townsville, Australia. It's been a challenging experience for us, and we have written about it at Renovate Australia. After doing it for the last three years I don't think that I would do it again ...
