WHAT IS " CLEANING GREEN"?
CLEANING GREEN is using cleaning products that don't endanger you, your family or the environment. You use all natural items to produce different cleaners for different jobs. This keeps the planet, as well as you and your family, cleaner and safer. It also saves you money when you consider the high cost of commerical products.
TOXIC CLEANERS ARE ALL AROUND US
We use cleaning products everywhere in our homes: on dishes, countertops, furniture, clothes, floors, windows, toilets, in the air and on ourselves.
In our war on dirt and germs, we are actually making things worse. Most of the conventional cleaning products we all grew up with are petroleum-based and have dubious health and environmental implications.
Instead of us going for cleaning
products that claim to destroy every germ in their path, there are plenty of natural products and methods that keep a house clean and smelling fresh as a 
daisy without the toxic side effects.

LEARNING TO BE GREEN
Old school meets new school
I'll admit that I've only been "cleaning green" for a little over a year now and sometimes it's hard. Not physically hard, but just hard to change habits that are well over 50 years old.
My daughter got me started down this green path by nagging(Yes, I said nagging! And, boy, is she good at it! I have NO idea where she picked it up from but she is a champion!)at me about how I was poisoning our health, polluting the air in the house and outside, damaging the planet and -- exposing our grandson to all of the above.
She's not a tree hugger or anything like that.
In fact, she describes herself more as a "shrub hugger" and growing. But she is concerned about her son's health and what the world will be like when he's grown.
So, how could I argue with that? I'm now up to about
a "small plant" hugger myself and growing. And, I'm finding that I like it! There is a quiet satisfaction knowing I'm doing something, no matter how small, to keep our planet clean and everyone of us living here a little more healthy. There's also the added benefit that I'm saving quite a bit of money on cleaning products but we won't make that a the major point here since we are talking about something else right now.

SOME EASY "GOING GREEN" RECIPES
Very simple to put together and works just as well as "store bought" without the toxins that can harm us and the planet!
ALL-PURPOSE CLEANER
Vinegar is about the best natural all-purpose
cleaner, disinfectand and deodorizer there is. Just mix 1 part vinegar to 1 part water in a spray bottle. Shake well before each use. Use to clean your countertops, appliances, glass, sink, tub and shower fixtures, mirrors and tile.

DEODORIZER
Baking soda make a wonderful deodorizer for
anywhere in your home. Sprinkle it on your carpet and let stand for at least 20 minutes before vacuuming.
We all know about placing an open box in the fridge but how about putting one in your freezer too.
When your finished there, sprinkle the used box down your kitchen drain and garbage disposal, pour boiling water after (careful here!) and smells are gone.

DEODORIZER & DISINFECTANT AT ONCE
Try lemon juice! Works great and smell good! Add 3-4 teaspoons to the humidifier to get rid of that stale smell. Add a whole lemon peel (or orange if
prefered) for a fresh smelling garbage disposal, drain and make the kitchen smell fresh.
Combine lemon juice with vinegar or baking soda to make a cleaning paste for the sink and fixtures.
For tough stains on copper pots, rub in salt with the cut half of a lemon.

FURNITURE & FLOOR POLISH
Mix 2 parts olive oil with 1 part lemon juice. Apply with a soft cloth and wipe dry.
To remove water spots from wood furniture, dab white toothpaste on the stain. Wipe and buff with a dry cloth after it dries.
