Fancy A QuickyStickyNote?

Do people read your lenses, leave a comment but then move on?

Often we read stuff we like, leave a comment then forget to rate it, favorite it or email it.

Enter the QuickyStickyNote.

Really simple to create, and it might just do the job.

Let me show you how...

See the QuickyStickyNote in Action

OK, now I know that this may read like a bit of a shamless plug for one of my lenses (and maybe it is),

but the first thing that you should do is see the QuickyStickyNote in action

The link above will take you to one of my lenses, you can read it if you like, but if not, then just go to the Guestbook at the bottom, and either leave a comment, or just scroll to underneath it where you should see a StickyNote. This is what this lens is all about.

If you left a comment you will see that quite possibly after you hit 'save' (especially if 'save' is at the bottom of your screen)the QuickyStickyNote appeared with its cleverly linked reminders. If you click any of the links then you will be taken to the appropriate place.

At this point, I would like to thank, Rajays, for giving me the inspiration for this lens after I read the indian-food-recipes lens.

Below are the very simple instructions for creating the QuickyStickyNote. It really is easy.

Make A QuickyStickyNote of Your Very Own

Here is how to do it:

  1. Open another browser window. Have this page open in one, and the page that you are editing open in the other

  2. Add the StickyNote Module to your page.(Found in page 2 of the unique content section of the module picker).

  3. Add a title

  4. Right-click, highlight and copy this code:

    <a href="/member/add_favorite/fit-not-fat">Favorite this lens</a>

    <a href="/utility/email_page?fit-not-fat">Email it to a friend</a>

    <a href="/fit-not-fat">Give the page a star rating</a>

    <a href="/member/join_fan_club/Dad-The-Lad">Join my fan club</a>

    <a href="/QuickyStickyNote">Like this QuickyStickyNote?</a>

  5. Paste it into your StickyNote on your page

You now have QuickyStickyNote.

You now need to change it so that it points people to your bits and not mine. Although I am more than happy for you to leave it as it is. Read on...

A Change of Direction

  1. Go to your QuickyStickyNote and on the first 3 lines of copied code replace 'fit-not-fat' with your address. You just need to use the bit after 'www.squidoo.com/[the bit here]' that you see in your address bar when you view your page.

  2. On the fourth line of copied code, replace 'Dad-The-Lad' with your username.

  3. remove the link back to me at the end if you like , but it would be great if you left it in.

  4. Reorder your modules so that the QuickySticky appears under your guestbook.

And there you have it, as simple as that.

Good But Not Here

You might be thinking, 'if the QuickyStickyNote is so good why isn't there one on this page then Dad-The-Lad?'

Fair comment. Well it's because I am trying to be cheeky and get you to see it on one of my other pages.

Hope you liked this page don't forget to leave a comment, rate it, favourite it, join my fan club, email it, etc, etc. Thank you.

(If you like the look of this box then you can make your own very easily.
You can find out how here.

Dad-The-Lad gave up his job to stay at home and look after his daughter. She was 6 months old at the time - now she is three. They have lots of fun. (more)
