What Are Quilted Balls and How Do You Make Them?
Quilted balls are styrofoam balls covered with 2 1/2" pieces of fabric in a quilt-like pattern. There is no sewing involved, all the pieces are placed on the ball with regular dressmaker pins. The pattern is worked on each side of the ball and then fabric or ribbon is glued around the ball to cover the edges. A nice finishing touch is a perky bow on the top and a piece of ribbon for a hanger. A charm or other theme type embellishment makes your ornament even more special. What Do You Do With Quilted Balls?
The main purpose of quilted balls has always been as ornaments. Christmas trees or Easter Trees look really beautiful with a collection of quilted balls. Quilted balls also look great hanging off the end of a curtain rod or the end bracket of a shelf. How about one hanging off the rear view mirror in your car? My favorite display is a bowl full of flower theme ornaments as a center piece.Quilted balls make great gifts. Pick a theme that matches something your gift recipient loves and they will have a keepsake to enjoy forever.
