The classic poems in this quiz are most usually associated with children from the youngest to teenagers. Some are read for fun - or they were when I was young - and some were learned for school homework.

Teach Your Children to Enjoy Poetry
Start When They are Young
I firmly believe that reading poems with good rhythms and rhymes to young children can instill a love of poetry which will give them pleasure for a lifetime.
Poetry can enrich and enlarge their vocabulary and introduce them to the beauty and flexibility of language. I had this advantage as a child and many, many years later I still love to read poetry and do so often. It helped me when I was at school. I never found English literature lessons boring and I had a headstart in understanding poems and Victorian novels like those by Dickens.
Nowadays I believe it's more important than ever to show children that books, classic literature and poetry are relevant, can convey emotions, and be as engrossing as any computer game or other screen based activity.

- I'd only heard a couple of these, that ocean between us seems to make a difference. What a fun quiz and yes, it is important that children learn poetry, being able to rhyme is so important in developing reading skills and creativity of their own.
