The bakery at Pompeii when it was unearthted in 1880's

pompeii

Mt. Vesuvius destroyed Pompeii and buried the whole city in year AD 79. People and animals were covered with lava rocks and turned into stones.

The Leaning Tower of Pisa

leaning tower of pisa

This is a bell tower and nobody knows why it is leaning. Could be that the bell is too heavy? Could be that the ground is giving way slowly but surely? Could it be that the photographer had his camera slanted to make building lean? Once you are in Pisa, pretend to hold up the leaning tower with your forefinger to prevent it from falling. This would be a good gag for your friends back home.

The Upright Tower of Pisa

pisa

This should have been the Tower of Pisa if it was not leaning. The Tower won't be famous it is standing upright.
