Why the European Union was formed?

.......Find out - through the eyes of a 10 year old

European Union MapMy Daughter explained the European Union as this..
"The European Union formed because people thought the war was not right and they didnt want war to happen again.
A man called Robert Schuman thought "I've had enough I'm gonna start something called the ECC" (European Economic Community.)
That was what it was called before the European Union (EU) Robert Schuman was happy that he done this and so were the 27 countries that joined.
Alphabetically the list includes Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxemburg, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and the United Kingdom. Romania and Bulgaria are the most recent European Union additions.

The European Union was intended to set up economic and financial alliance. This step was made to secure these countries and represent them as a union in front of the world.
And the European Parliment represents the people of the European Union, if a country wants to join the EU they need to meet strict guidelines. Europe is seen as stable and powerful in the eyes of the rest of the world.

I scored pretty well, over half! Then again I love my history and was a good student in school. It also helps that sometimes my kids need help with their studies.

I aced it! Wow, now I feel like a 5th grader. Actually it helped me I live in Ljubljana (one ofthe questions) and I am sure I could not answer on two or three questions if there were no multiple choices. Lookin' forward to see Texas in EU:)))
  • Serenia Jun 23, 2011 @ 8:51 am | delete
70% is not bad for someone who does NOT live in the EU and has never been there either.
