Drat I got the last one wrong. Some of those stumped me and I thought I was good at my French menus. Nicely done. If you are going to a foreign country, it really does pay to learn a bit of the language, especially when it comes to food.

Great quiz. I got one wrong though. I always order with confidence, then when the food turns up I eat it and pretend I knew what I was going to get.

  • DANCINGCOWGIRLDESIGN Feb 3, 2012 @ 9:10 pm | delete
7 out of 10 on the quiz. I better get back to the TV and watch some more cooking shows. They just kill me with some of the terms they use....I'm thinking " why didn't you just say green beans if that's what it is. ha ha ha Enjoyed the quiz!

fraid not. But I would love to be able to. How cool it would be to be in a French restaurant and order from the menu in French. Nice lens!
  • OldStones Sep 28, 2011 @ 6:03 am | delete
I don't think I would be able to order with confidence from a French menu, but I think I could muddle through. Scored 80% on the quiz.

I missed "mariniere," "goujon," and "provencale' (oops! thought I knew that one). Maybe I should go to a nice French restaurant and practice a little. Thanks for a tasty lens!

  • elyria May 24, 2011 @ 3:27 pm | delete

  • pimbels May 20, 2011 @ 12:45 pm | delete

  • Serenia May 7, 2011 @ 4:33 pm | delete
My spouse is french (canadian) and a chef (but hasnt worked in that business for a very long time) and I still only got 60%. At least he learnt some things he has forgotten LOL

    Thanks for the challenge.
  • ltraider Apr 26, 2011 @ 10:53 am | delete
6/10 ugh. I used to live in France, I guess I didn't eat out much.

  • ChrisDay Apr 17, 2011 @ 10:49 pm | delete
This would have been SOOOO useful when we first started travelling to France, many aeons ago! Lovely quiz - nostalgia trip and mouthwatering.
  • WindyWinters Mar 31, 2011 @ 9:58 pm | delete
Cool quiz. My score was only 60% and although I know some French, I'm not familiar with the names of French foods! Guess I better stick to Chinese, Italian, and Japanese Foods. "Bon Appetit". :)
  • blackspanielgallery Mar 30, 2011 @ 11:49 pm | delete
    Nice lens
  • garyr_h Mar 27, 2011 @ 9:20 am | delete
Perhaps, but I've only ever been to a French restaurant once in my life.
  • LoKackl Mar 27, 2011 @ 9:16 am | delete
50 percent right - would probably mean lots of delays if I were traveling in France! I like how you have transitioned between modules with each one "standing on" the previous.
  • remanon Feb 21, 2011 @ 5:12 pm | delete
90%!! Parlez vous francais? Oui - ok that's it! Thanks for a fun lens.
  • Tipi Feb 13, 2011 @ 9:18 pm | delete
Well, I can now tell you that if I ever order in a French restaurant that I will be surprised by what I will get at least 50% of the time. Golly, I hope I don't get those tentacles! Well done!
  • artyfax Jan 7, 2011 @ 7:39 am | delete
I will start the ball rolling. I was actually in a spainish restaurant on majorca and I thought that I was ordering Calimari ( battered squid rings) which I quite enjoy. In fact when the food was served I had inadvertently ordered whole, grilled squid. At first I was a little put off by the tentacles but mamaged to fight my way through the meal and even enjoyed it - except the tentacles, they got left on the plate.
