Quiz: How Much Do You Know About Michigan?

Ranked #7,123 in Travel & Places, #193,027 overall

Are you ready for my quiz?

Are you a Michiganian or just a traveler through our fair state?  Here's your chance to test how much you know.

Test your knowledge, your mettle, your trivia (not trivial) pursuit, your multiple choice skills.  I like to make quizzes fun, so you will find hints to the answers of some of the questions if you peek at the rest of this lens before you take the quiz. Or you can dive right in and see what you know. Either way, it's all in good fun. I hope you enjoy your stay.

Two Detroit Classics

Check out this retro TV ad where rocker Ted Nugent, aka the Motor City Madman, hawks a famous soda pop (or just pop as we say around here) that originated in Detroit.

The Ambassador Bridge, which connects Detroit and Windsor, was built during the 1920s - the heyday of Detroit building construction. Some other famous area projects going up during that time were the General Motors Building, Detroit Public Library, the Henry Ford Museum and Greenfield Village

Trolls You Say?

John Bauer

What do trolls have to do with Michigan? One nickname for people in the lower peninsula is trolls because they live under the bridge (Mackinac). Do you think that's mean? I think it's all in good fun, and we don't all look like this guy.

Michigan's State Stone

The Petoskey Stone is Michigan's official state stone. It's a coral fossil named after the town it has famously been associated with along the shores of Lake Michigan. To learn more, visit my article on its history and where to find it.

Michigan is a great place to indulge in your love of rock hunting. If you want to know more about our geological treasures, check out Da Yooper's Guide to Michigan's Rocks, Minerals & Fossils.

Mackinac Bridge After Sunset

Mackinac Bridge

This bridge scared me when I was a kid in the 70s (quiz hint: it had been around for just about 20 years at that point), but I did have a fear of drowning. I'm over that, but the Mighty Mac is no less awesome.

Get Your Mackinac Island Fudge Fix

A favorite tourist attraction in Michigan is Mackinac Island which has become famous for its fudge shops. Has it been a while since you've taken a trip to the island? You can still get your fudge fix as a few of the island candy makers sell their sweet treats through Amazon.

9 out of 10 here. Just like Kit, I picked lumber instead of fur, even though my first instinct was fur. :P Lots of fun.

Ah, 9 out of 10 (I went with lumber instead of fur!), but not bad, I think. Great quiz! Lensrolling it to my Mackinac one. ^_^
