Quiz: How Much Do You Know About Tomatoes?

Ranked #15,376 in Home & Garden, #214,207 overall

Tomatoes are one of our most popular foods.

How much do you know about them? Though technically a fruit, we think of it as a vegetable. Though its fruits are nutritious, its leaves are poisonous. Though it can be easy to grow, it can also be subject to many diseases and pests, and it needs just the right weather for ideal growth and setting fruit. This quiz will tell you if you are a tomato expert or a tomato novice. Take the challenge, and then invite your friends to do the same.

As much as I love tomatoes, I sure don't know much about them! Maybe that's why they didn't grow well for me last summer

I did terrible on the quiz..30%. Guess I need to study more :) I'm going to try to grow tomatoes for the first time this year. Wish me luck!!

I wish you much luck. Just don't plant them until about two weeks after your last frost date and you can probably avoid what happened to me last year. you'll probably also want to include at least a couple of non-heirloom plants that are disease resistant and good sellers. Some heirlooms don't' produce as much per plant as, say, an Early Girl or a Sweet 100 cherry. I've had good luck with Celebrity and Yellow Pear -- except fo rlast year .

At least she does her best. Some years she gets a bumper crop. But she was disappointed in 2009, when the tomatoes had one problem after another. You can read about that in My Tomatoes Were Hit By a Frost in Late April.
