A few months back I wrote about the new FTC Guidelines that would be going into effect on December 1,2009 that would affect all Bloggers, Testimonials and Affiliate Marketers. Everyone that blogs or writes articles, lenses, etc. should by now know about these guidelines and what they mean.

I wrote about the FTC Blogging rules and Guidelines and included the link for the FTC Guidelines, all 85 pages of them. But then I broke it down with some Q&A's directly from the FTC.

Are there unanswered questions about how and when to disclose, you bet there are! But when all else fails, it's better to err on the side of caution and disclose. Look at the Squidoo Disclosure, but pay attention to those free products, your other blogs, and any and all testimonials. Pay attention to if you are paid to write for someone else.

The bottom line is Truth and transparency!

I hope everyone got 100% because these new FTC Guidelines for Bloggers are important if we want to stay out of trouble. Who wants to earn a dollar only to turn it over to someone else because we were out of compliance? If you haven't already done so, go read my lens on the FTC, it answers many questions.

    Well, not living in the US I don't really have to change my behavior much in this respect. Still, complying as much as seems reasonable is probably wise even here in the EU. After all - similar rules are probably already in effect, or are going to be in effect, here as well. But it's hard to know just how to go about disclosing without going into legaleze (I don't even understand the text that came out of that disclosure automatically made - nor did I understand all the options). and if I don't understand, will my readers?
