Second Book in the Bible

Some of us know our Bible stories because they're part of our culture. Some of us know them because we learned them in church or even in school. But how can we tell what's just cultural interpretation, and how much is really in the Bible?

The book of Exodus is full of miracles. But if something has a natural explanation, does that stop it from being a miracle? The Bible says God "used" an East wind. Could He also have "used" insects, birds, the natural properties of rock, etc.? Magicians can trick us by doing tricks, but only God controls nature.

There are ten simple questions below, all about really well-known stories in the book of Exodus. If they surprise you, don't forget to look up the Bible references. And if the Bible references surprise you, don't forget to keep reading. There are lots of answers in the Bible - they're just not always the same answers as our culture expects us to find.

I'd love to read your comments

Do you think something can still be a miracle if it has a natural explanation?
Does it matter whether Mount Sinai is on the Sinai Peninsula or not?
If these things happened to real people, living in a real historical world - if God arranged all the events to take place just when they needed them to - how would that influence how you relate to God in the real world of today?
