The Importance of Modules

Writing lenses on Squidoo is fun. There are so many ways to add content and create interest. Do you know the different modules available to you?  Are there some here you haven't tried? Take my quiz and see if you see some you might like to try. (Do you dare?)

I know I sometimes get in a rut and stick with what's familiar and comfortable. Making this quiz made me look at all the modules available and think of how they can be used in lenses. I wasn't even aware some of these modules exisited. Were you?

Good luck, and have fun.

Squidoo Modules

building blocksModules are the building blocks for writing your lens. Choose the ones you want to use, then put them in order to create an easy reading page. That's just how simple it is.

Squidoo gives you so many tools to write your lenses. There are 173 modules to choose. I don't think you could come up with a good excuse about not being able to write a lens. Many of the modules can be used in tandem to create a theme in a lens. From Amazon to Zazzle, there is at least one module you can use.

So take the quiz. I think you'll find it easier than you think. I can honestly say everyone should score 100%.

100% amazingly. But I must confess some of it was just guessing - I've never heard of one or two of them, like Pandora, so will check them out now.

Excellent lens! I missed the music and sports on your quiz and guess that's where I need to concentrate my efforts - to learn more about those.

Trying very hard not to give it away, but I thought it all couldn't be that letter's answer. HA! I was wrong. 70% so I'm not entirely clueless. :D Thanks for the education.

I scored a 100% (kept thinking you might throw a curveball, like Barb said) - but I liked it because you grouped modules in HOW they're used for certain types of content. Great reminder of other modules possibly not used (or thought of!) as often as the popular modules.
  • BarbRad Feb 14, 2010 @ 12:57 pm | delete
Great idea for a lens. A good guesser could have aced it after he first three questions, but I still checked on some of the answers just to make sure you didn't throw a curve ball. I, too, had never been aware of some of these. I'm going to look into some of those music modules for sure. You've shown us how to use a quiz as a teaching tool. Good job! 5*.

I have never even heard of some of those modules! So much to learn....
  • EverythingMouse Feb 14, 2010 @ 11:52 am | delete
There are so many modules but I do tend to stick to the same ones. Sometimes it is good to go out of your comfort zone and find something new
  • Norma_Budden Feb 14, 2010 @ 9:25 am | delete
I just took the quiz and got the first one wrong. I was thinking solely in terms of using one module to tell a story and, since the sticky note and talk bubbles are limited in character length, I eliminated them and chose between the text module and the text with big picture module.

This is a good way to point out the various modules, though.

I'm having trouble figuring out the plexo modules. Guess I need to search out more on those.
  • BevsPaper Feb 13, 2010 @ 5:59 pm | delete
Great Quiz on the Squidoo Modules. We are fortunate to have so many to choose from.
  • OhMe Feb 13, 2010 @ 4:17 pm | delete
Finally, I made 100 on a quiz. This is a great way to get us thinking about all the different modules on Squidoo.
