Diamond-back Water Snakes a very large, beautifully marked snakes. They live in many of the permanent water bodies in Louisiana and are often confused with Cottonmouths. They attach their tail to an underwater object and lay in wait for fish, their favorite prey.
Black Racer

Black Racers, also called Blue Runners, are very fast snakes that inhabit the forested areas in Louisiana. When the sun hits their scales they shimmer with blue highlights. Their prey is quite varied and they eat it live.

- Great lens. Quite a few of those snakes are for sale in pet shops over here. I much prefer to see photos of them in the wild where they belong!
