When and When Not to Pronounce R in British English

It is quite easy to know when or when not to pronounce the letter R. The letter R is always pronounced in American English. In British English, things are a bit more complicated - R is pronounced before vowels and never before consonants.

    Nice lens, but I'm sorry I totally don't get it. When you say the R is not pronounced, do you mean it is not emphasized? You have to pronounce the R in year, for example, otherwise you get yea! I'm a Cockney and often drop my h's but R's have to be pronounced, surely.
