Do you want to find out more about the USPS R2-D2 mailboxes and commemorative "Star Wars" 41-cent stamps?
On March 15, 2007; the U.S. Postal Service and Lucasfilm Ltd. announced that 400 mailboxes nationwide would be decorated as "R2-D2" from the mega-popular "Star Wars" movie series. The redressing of these mailboxes is related to a promotion that was later announced on March 28th regarding a set of 15 41-cent U.S. postage stamps featuring "Star Wars" characters that were issued on May 25, 2007. These stamps commemorate the 30th anniversary of the release of the original "Star Wars" film.
