Rabat Pictures - I Want to Spend a Few Months in the Capital City of Morocco

Ranked #7,219 in Travel & Places, #195,427 overall

I Hope To Replace Everyone of These With My Own Rabat Pictures

Every once in a while I think I need a complete change. So, for years I have looked around at different places to go and live for a while. But somehow I always manage to end up in the same place. Physically it may be a different geographic location on the map, or fly a different flag or even be halfway around the world. But culturally, politically, economically, they are similar. So keeping in mind that I have children and that the illusion of safety is paramount, I have added a several month stay in Rabat, the capital city of Morocco, to my bucket list.

I hope you find this collection of Rabat pictures to be interesting.

Do You Have Any Advice for Me about Living in Rabat for a Few Months?

Keep Rabat on the bucket list because:

aishu19 says:

It looks gorgeous..Would be a great experience for you

Take it off the bucket list because:

tssfacts says:

I think I would have to pass on this venture.

ohcaroline says:

Thanks but no thanks for me. Not my cup of tea.

skiesgreen says:

Well, if you can stand the heat, flies, and streets too narrow to pass another human in it might be allright. Personally I am not much for these old cities anymore, my body couldn't take it.

Why Rabat?

As I was writing this page, I actually began asking myself that exact question. But then I remembered my motivation. Rabat was initially described to me as a lovely coastal city that has not been "taken over" by the tourist trade. Located on the Atlantic Ocean, Rabat is the capital and 3rd largest city in the Kingdom of Morocco. The city itself has a population of 650,000 and together with Salé and Temara have a regional population of 1.8 million. It meets my needs for culturally, economically and politically different from anywhere I have lived.

Don't Forget a Tour Book

This is the one I want to take.

I like the Lonely Planet tour books. As I haven't traveled to Morocco (yet), I have no personal experience with this book, but based on my past travels with Lonely Planet, this is the book I would take.

What's Stopping Me?

rabat picturesWell, this is a pretty big step. I seem to have my husband enthusiastic enough that he has brought home several books on Morocco from the library since I wrote about Marrakesh, Morocco in an earlier bucket list page. So, at this point, the primary thing stopping me would be the logistics. I don't know what kind of visas I would need, nor do I actually have enough information to find extended and affordable lodging. So, more reading and studying is in order, then some planning, and hopefully I will be able to tick this off my bucket list while the kids are still school aged.
