RC cars: electric or gas?

Radio controlled cars are a great hobby for kids of all ages. There is a type of RC car to suit every taste and budget. Collectors can choose between two types of power: electric or gas. Electric is easier for beginners, but gas is more fun.

Electric remote control cars run on batteries. This necessitates a good supply of battery of a reliable portable battery charger. Common battery types for RC cars are nickel-cadmium, nickel metal hydride, or lithium polymer cells.

If you prefer gas, your RC cars will require a small internal combustion engine. This engine is fueled by a special mixture of nitromethane, methanol, and oil (in most cases a blend of castor oil and synthetic oil). These are referred to as "nitro" cars.
