So how do I get into radio?

You can definately go round in circles trying to get an idea on how to get into radio.

Sure there are a lot of broadcast training schools, some we recommend and some we don't. Granted many will give you a basic idea on how radio works and that in itself is a good thing.

But we are currently working in radio now, we rub shoulders with the bosses, the decision makers and as a result have the most knowledge about what will be required from you, and what YOU have to do.

One of the reasons we made our Podcast series was because largely everyone has the same questions, questions such as:

How do I become a journalist?
How do I get voiceover work?
How do I get a demo?
How do I choose the best radio school?

You can download 14 hours of content which will answer all of these questions in great detail for as little as £12.99 for the whole set. ( That is of course if you want to save yourself a whole lot of time and get the very best intel you can )

For those of you who want to work in commercial radio, I highly recommend you take a moment to listen to the "Be a Heart DJ" podcast, even if you don't want to work for Heart, it gives a really good insight as to what it takes to be a presenter on the station. Luis Clarke gives a detailed insight from how he went from being a radio presenter, to running all the Heart stations, and what the role involves. A really great insight, and one of my favorites, as I listen to Heart quite a bit, and it's nice to hear what people do to make it sound like it does.

I also highly recommend the How to Be a Voiceover podcast, a great insight into the world of voiceover artists given by Caroline Woodruff, who gives an insight into the day-to-day life of a voiceover, how much to charge people, the equity scheme, how to get an FTP, ISDN Unit, as well as all the other equipment you'd need. A fantastic listen should you want to get into this industry
