Kidney Beans actually heal and help maintain kidney function and yes, they look exactly like the human kidneys.

Celery, Bok Choy, Rhubarb and more look just like bones. These foods specifically target bone strength. Bones are 23% sodium and these foods are 23% sodium. Eggplant, Avocadoes and Pears target the health and function of the womb and cervix of the female - they look just like these organs. Today's research shows that when a woman eats 1 avocado a week, it balances hormones, sheds unwanted birth weight and prevents cervical cancers. And how profound is this? .... It takes exactly 9 months to grow an avocado from blossom to ripened fruit. There are over 14,000 photolytic chemica l cons tituents of nutrition in each one of these foods (modern science has only studied and named about 141 of them).

Figs are full of seeds and hang in twos when they grow. Figs increase the motility of male sperm and increase the numbers of sperm and will help to overcome male sterility.

Sweet Potatoes look like the pancreas and actually balance the glycemic index of diabetics.

Olives assist the health and function of the ovaries

Grapefruits, Oranges, and other Citrus fruits look just like the mammary glands of the female and actually assist the health of the breasts and the movement of lymph in and out of the breasts.

Onions look like body cells. Today's research shows that onions help clear waste materials from all of the body cells They even produce tears which wash the epithelial layers of the eyes

Christine Horner, MD is a nationally known surgeon, author, and professional speaker residing in Taos, NM. She holds two board certifications: the National Board of Surgery, and the National Board of Plastic Surgery. Dr. Horner was recognized as a leader in her field shortly after starting her plastic and reconstructive surgery practice because she successfully ran a national campaign to pass laws requiring insurance companies to pay for breast reconstruction following mastectomy. Her five year crusade -- the Breast Reconstruction Advocacy Project or BRA Project -- led to the passage of laws in thirty-five states and a federal law. The federal bill was signed into law by President Clinton on October 21, 1998. The law was unprecedented because it was the first law Congress had ever passed requiring insurance companies to pay for a specific surgical procedure. Her campaign involved several meetings with President Clinton and Hillary Clinton, Senator's Ted Kennedy and Alfonse D'Amato, and Representatives Anna Eshoo and Sue Kelly. Click here to read more

Diabetes Symptons and Major Types of Diabetes

Diabetes Symptoms

Diabetes often goes undiagnosed because many of its symptoms seem so harmless. Recent studies indicate that the early detection of diabetes symptoms and treatment can decrease the chance of developing the complications of diabetes.

Some diabetes symptoms include:

. Frequent urination
. Excessive thirst
. Extreme hunger
. Unusual weight loss
. Increased fatigue
. Irritability
. Blurry vision
If you have one or more of these diabetes symptoms, see your doctor right away.

For more information visit American Diabetes Association.

Type 1 diabetes
Results from the body's failure to produce insulin, the hormone that "unlocks" the cells of the body, allowing glucose to enter and fuel them. It is estimated that 5-10% of Americans who are diagnosed with diabetes have type 1 diabetes.

Type 2 diabetes
Results from insulin resistance (a condition in which the body fails to properly use insulin), combined with relative insulin deficiency. Most Americans who are diagnosed with diabetes have type 2 diabetes.

Gestational diabetes
Gestational diabetes affects about 4% of all pregnant women - about 135,000 cases in the United States each year.

Pre-diabetes
Pre-diabetes is a condition that occurs when a person's blood glucose levels are higher than normal but not high enough for a diagnosis of type 2 diabetes. There are 54 million Americans who have pre-diabetes, in addition to the 20.8 million with diabetes.

HEALTH TIPS

CALCIUM is the Question

While everybody (and every body) needs calcium, NOT every body needs milk. We see those cute commercials advocating milk for everyone. However, those who are "lactose intollerant" for various health reasons are better off not to consume milk or milk products.

This leaves us with the question of how to get enough calcium for healthy body maintenance. And, the other question of how much calcium do we need, anyway.

Use the links below for more information. You may be surprised to find how many foods other than milk products can be rich in calcium and other important nutrients. So, Moooo-ve over milk, and make way for other good foods as healthy resources of calcium.

Alternative Medicine and Natural Remedies

If you are like most of the population in today's society, you have taken "prescription drugs" at some time of your life. And, if you are in the fifty-something crowd, it is probable that you are now taking at least one prescription medication on a regular basis.

Once a person gets into the routine of taking heart medicine, high blood pressure meds, or other "maintenance-type" medication on a daily basis, the mindset tells us that we are locked in to that, and there is no other way.

But, in fact, there are many herbal and natural alternatives that can give relief, and are actually safer for one's overall health.

Finding them seems to be the greater challenge.

We will offer here some ideas and information to be considered. They are NOT meant as recommendations by medical professionals. But, they are here to give hope to those who may have "fallen through the cracks" and perhaps been completely discounted or ignored by the medical profession.

Some are as simple as eating foods that will do you the most good. Natural remedies and proper nutrition are some of the best ways to guard against illness, and to help recover from various maladies and disease.

Parents Need To Be Aware of Asthma Risks

Children Dying of Asthma
By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS
Published: June 15, 2006

One in three fatal asthma attacks worldwide involves a child with a mild form of the disease, and nearly half of all parents are unaware of the risk, according to a report presented in Vienna.

Editorial Comment:
As an adult sufferer of Asthma, it is very disturbing when the parents of small children who are obviously suffering an Asthma attack, calmly say that the child is okay. Or worse, to hear them comment that the child is "a drama queen", just trying to get attention.

WRONG! Parents and teachers... Anyone responsible for the care of children need to become aware, and take their role seriously. Get information on asthma and other potentially life threatening ailments.

Lack of ability to breathe is a serious problem and should be promptly and properly attended to.

All too often, those who could and should help, either don't know what to do, or worse yet, they simply don't want to bother.

Finding help for allergy and asthma

Asthma Info Resources

Does someone you know have Asthma? Do you consider asthma to be very serious?
Asthma Related Deaths Increase
Asthma claims approximately 5,000 lives annually in the United States. Asthma deaths have increased significantly during the past two decades. From 1975 to 1979, the death rate was 8.2 per 100,000 people. That rate jumped from 1993-1995 to 17.9 per 100,000.

The death rate from asthma for children ages 5 to 14 doubled from 1980 to 1993. African Americans were 4 to 6 times more likely than whites to die from asthma.

Asthma is the leading cause of school absenteeism due to chronic illness and the second most important respiratory condition to cause home confinement for adults.

One study found that children with asthma lose an extra 10 million school days each year.

There is help in managing asthma symptoms

New Study Shows Hope to Asthma Sufferers

New Study on Childhood Asthma
New Study on Childhood Asthma Shows Home-Based Interventions Are Cost-Effective, And They Work.

New data suggest that a home-based environmental intervention program is a cost-effective way to improve the health of inner-city children who have moderate to severe asthma.

The program successfully decreased allergen levels in the home and reduced asthma symptoms. The data also show that the cost would be substantially lower if the interventions were implemented in a community setting, and that they would be as cost-effective as many drug interventions.

The home-based interventions resulted in significant improvement in health status and reductions in resource use among the asthmatic children.

Children who received the intervention had 19 percent fewer unscheduled clinic visits and a 13 percent reduction in the use of albuterol inhalers, small applicators that deliver asthma medication directly into the lungs.

Children in the intervention group experienced 38 more symptom-free days over the two-year course of the study than those in the control group.

Is Stress Running Your Life?

There are Medical and Natural Ways to Manage Stress

Anxiety Disorder vs. Normal Response To Genuine Threat

How do you know if you have "Anxiety Disorder"

Most people feel afraid, tense, or even anxious enough to become short of breath at some time or other. It is natural to experience these reactions in response to genuine threats.

People with anxiety disorders feel extreme worry and fear in ordinary and relatively harmless situations.

They may be frozen with fear nearly every day about the possibility of getting into a car accident, losing their jobs, or other possible but unlikely prospects (a sign of generalized anxiety disorder).

People with anxiety disorders are hypersensitive to the possibility of danger, but their extreme vigilance serves no purpose. They are spinning their neurological wheels, so to speak.
