Jamie Scott joins Radio Talent

Some say... Jamie is the most handsome man in radio, others just say he is a damn good producer.

To be fair there is very little Jamie Scott hasn't accomplished in radio and there are very few awards left at the awards shop, seeing as he seems to have won them all.

It's alleged that he is so accustomed to winning awards that when he gets one he just says "oh right, put it over there, next to ALL THE OTHERS ON MY GIANT AWARD MANTLEPIECE".

Jamie was the producer of the Breakfast show on Heart 106.2, which makes things really confusing when you consider that the presenter is called Jamie and the co presenter is called Scott. Is there some universal principal at work or do you have to have a first name like the presenter and a second name, the second name of the co presenter?

Does this mean then that the Capital breakfast show producer is called "Jonny Snowdon".

Welcome aboard the "supreme dream team" Jamie

Kevin Hughes on Sky News

A difficult call for Kevin Hughes

Kevin Hughes is a presenter both on the Heart Network, and also on 95.8 Capital FM. Previously he hosted the UK's largest youth pop show in the country, five nights a week on a group of stations ( name escapes us )

Everyone who has ever heard Kevin on the radio knows he is a great big bucket of information about pop artists. Kevin knows what Beyonce had for lunch on the 18th February 1982 and what time Ozzy Osborne goes for a number two.

Presenting 15-24 radio for a number of years, doing a bit of TV and studying Smash Hits from when he was just an idea in the cosmic universe, has stood Kevin in good stead for presenting radio shows. For years he has been able to send people to sleep standing up with trivia about pop artists. Some say he is known to recite the Top 40 from 1993 in his sleep and knows the chronological order and discography of the Bee Gees BACKWARDS.

Yet nothing could have prepared him for his most difficult broadcast moment ever, speaking on Sky News in music's saddest day.

Suddenly Kevin was live on air minutes after an announcement that MJ had passed away. At that time, reports where unconfirmed.

A number of people who work at Radio Talent were watching the news when the news anchor crossed to their "radio journalist - Kevin Hughes" were dumbfounded at what they heard.

It seems that Kevin was no longer a hive of nonsense trivia about "why you like this song" but an intensely articulate, passionate, music expert.

With what would only have been seconds to prepare, Kevin was placed on the spot by mobile phone to talk convincingly about the world's greatest music artist, and whilst he was not at one moment short for words, we were dumbstruck with his reporting skills.

Kevin was introduced as a Michael Jackson fan and music journalist and was asked to pontificate and elaborate on the unfolding drama in front of his eyes. Let's remember at this point that not only was Kevin live to possibly the largest TV audience since the X Factor final, but he is also one of Michael's most avid fans and doesn't work on TV.

With that in mind as he calmly reported, without being overcome with emotion, we found ourselves forgetting Kevin was a radio DJ, and focusing on the information he was sharing about Michael, as if he was one of news' most seasoned reporters.

We know Kevin has interviewed more pop stars than possibly any presenter today, and in each interview Kevin has always asked the artists to comment on Michael Jackson; a habit which was formed purely because of Kevin's fascination with the artist. That said, noone really knew Kevin was such a passionate fan.

Knowing Kevin's character and humilty, he would for certain never wish to gain career progression from such, or any, tragic events; but we would still like to publicly commend him for his input on that terrible night. In our opinion of the correspondants asked to contribute, Kevin was one of the most knowledgeable, sincere reporters on the events of that night.

We truly hope that Kevin will continue to be recognised as leader in his niche in the broadcasting world, and that he is asked to contribute again more regularly.

Noone in radio deserves a nod more than Kevin, who had to report in an unknown area on something he was most emotionally connected to. Like a doctor with a relative on the operating table, Kevin was a true pro.

Well done.

Basil Soper

An great chocolatey voice experience of voiceness

Some voiceovers who join Radio Talent looking to expand their marketing to get voiceover work say things like "I am too old".

We normally say nonsense and here is why! Basil Soper

You see nobody likes being sold to. Especially by a 12 year old voiceover who sounds like every other voice in the same ad-break. When Basil voices something, you most certainly hear it.

Listening to Basil do a voiceover is almost like having a soothing bedtime story read to you by your dad. In fact we are thinking of booking him ourselves for just that.

Perfectly cast for recent Classic FM voiceovers and Saga campaigns we couldn't think of anyone more suited.

When you think you are "too anything" remember there is always a niche you can own and here's testiment.

Edit - Basil Soper was contacted within minutes of this being published by a London client.

What happened to the OLD Radio Talent newsletters

I hate new things I might explode!

Calm down, it's only a test.

Here is our thinking.

1/ We like to write about people. Sometimes we say nice stuff, and sometimes people want to refer back to it. This way we are able to keep the newsletter for ever and ever amen and it helps when marketing people that join our fabulous society.

2/ Emails today are becoming so terrible that you can't see any pictures, so we are seeing if people would prefer to glance at a page rather than an email

Why Squidoogglewitterbook?

Well. We like Squidoogglewitterbook and as an ambassador of all things about marketing and networking, why shouldn't we use the tools at our disposal.

We would of course welcome your thoughts and there is a special Beboboogaloo 2.0 comment box here for you to talk in. Cool huh?
