A job at 95.8 Capital FM

How Radio Talent gets someone a Job at Capital!

Presenter Frank Tasker joined Radio Talent in 2007 and we wrote about his tenacity before. Frank is a keen ambassador of the phrase "get everything you can, out of everything you got"
Using Radio Talent's guidance and advice which is free to all members, Frank learned how to approach his dream station, what to say, when to say it, how to present himself.
Although Talent comes first, there are other secret formulas which have to come into play if you want to change your job, get more income, or get more success.
Frank wrote to us this week to thank us as he feels he owes us for helping him land his dream job on the mighty 95.8 Capital FM.
After 3 pilots he is on the subs bench for trial. More than 99% of radio presenters will ever get.
Want a piece of that action?

Get a Better Radio Job, get more voiceover work

Here is a quick tip for moving forward

Last year Moyles was talking about goals with his team on air. They talked about their methods, their beliefs and if they ever had them.
Rachel piped up and said she writes down her goals and puts them in the freezer.
What seems like strange esoteric superstition nonsense clearly worked for her as she is now the exec of the Radio 1 breakfast show.
Today, think of something you want, job wise or otherwise and WRITE it down.
Look at it every day, or like Rachel put it in the freezer and watch what happens.
A study was carried out in California in the 1990s were school class mates were invited to a reunion. 80% of the most successful candidates at the meeting were the ones who had written down their goals when they were at school.

WRITE IT DOWN!!!!

Get a Job at Heart

How to get a job at one of the great Heart stations

If you listen to the Radio in the UK you will know that 8 million of the stations are called Heart.
This means that if you want to work in radio at all, chances are you will at some point need to work for one of these Hearts.
Knowing this, we cheekily decided to find out what you would need to do to work for them.
Its all mental science in a way this whole success thing and we wanted to learn first how the bosses think, and secondly what you have to do if you want to be in with a chance.
Then we collated all the information into two handy bits of audio which you can listen to and take notes.
We took Paul Andrew, an award winning multi station boss, and Luis Clarke, the omnipotent king of talent for the whole country and grilled them sideways until they told us what you need to hear.
From learning about their ethos, who to talk to, what to say on a demo, to understanding what the audience want is all included.
Seasoned broadcasters have emailed us to say how impressed they were and how ingenious it was to produce such comprehensive guides.
So if you want to work for Heart now, or one day, don't guess, chances are if you do, you'll cock it up.

Are you a Loser

In the world of radio and your broadcast career, are you a winner or a loser?

Scientific studies have proved time and time again that the worlds richest people make up only 2% of the population. Those 2% also account for almost 80% of the worlds wealth.
What this basically says is the rest of us are a bunch of losers. The rest of us are governed by the decisions of this top 2%.
What these findings show is that although we are all the same only 2% of us can be bothered to make a difference in our life's and the rest meander through wondering why those 2% get all the breaks.
Do you think these 2% ever made a conscious decision to step up?
