Everything Raggs: Raggs Kids Club Band | "Raggs" Show On PBS

My three-year-old watches PBS in the afternoons, and his twin baby sisters do, too. My son immediately took to the Raggs show when it first began to air here, but I didn't. The life-sized, multi-colored puppy suits were a bit much for me, although I had to admit that the music was very catchy. My son continued to watch the show, so like any good mother, I watched it with him.

The life lessons that the puppies illustrated were good for my preschool aged son, so I began to warm up to the idea of these huge puppy musicians. However, when I noticed how my infant daughters responded to them, my interest level shot up. They would try to dance and sing with the puppies! Every day when the show aired their little faces lit up and their teeny weeny little bodies began to move. Their enjoyment also helped to increase their attention span.

These puppies were becoming important to me.

Now, the Raggs Kids Club Band is officially my daughters' favorite show, and their music tops my children's list of hits. My son asks me to sing "Wag and Wiggle" to him and his sisters, and it always brings the best out of them. I even sing it to stop the babies from crying.

We're now planning a Raggs birthday party for the girls' first birthday!

According to Raggs, LLC, "Raggs" has three primary educational goals, which are aligned with the National Association for the Education of Young Children's (2002) Guidelines for Pre-Kindergarten Learning and Teaching:

1. To nurture three to six-year-olds' sense of self and others,
and to foster a strong motivation to learn and achieve.

2. To introduce children to elements of academic learning that span the preschool curriculum.

3. To use the power of music and humor to stimulate children to become actively involved in learning.
