A Horrible Kitchen Accident
I am not a glitz person; but If I could find a way to trail a cloud of purple and blue glitter, I would certainly do so. It's all about the color!
The plan was solid, the aim was true. However. Something very bad happened during the cake baking process.
Still, I et that cake.

Rainbow Cake Recipe Module

- Serves: 8
- Prep Time: 1 hour
This cake is super sweet with the Seven Up. Next time I'll use soda water.
Ingredients
- White cake mix
- 12 oz. or 1.5 cups Seven Up or plain soda water
- Food coloring
Instructions
For double layered cake, double recipe.
No eggs, no oil. Ignore the directions on the cake package.
Grease & flour either 2 cake pans or 1 9 by 13 inch baking pan.
Preheat oven to325* degrees Fahrenheit.
Mix white cake mix with soda. It will fizz up to let you know it is working.
Each single batch is divided into 3 small bowls. For 2 boxes, 6 bowls.
Make different colors of batter. There are 4 colors in the food coloring to start with. Then combine colors to make new colors, red & yellow make orange, blue & red make purple.
In prepared pan, dump all of one color. Dump another color directly on top. At the end dump your 3rd color. Do the same for second pan.
Bake until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean, about 20 minutes at 325* Fahrenheit Cool before frosting..
Do not try this at home!

However, noooo, that was not to be. The frosting started imploding the cake! Then I gave it up and let the cake follow its own path.

- This is amazing! My sister is an artist and I know she would love a rainbow cake for her birthday. I am going to try and bake her one this year! (: Thanks for the inspiration and the recipe. As for my kitchen disaster, well, I once forgot about a batch of cookies I had in the oven and they were black by the time I remembered, lol.

- I tried to make a blue cake once by using a red velvet cake recipe and substituting blue food color for the red food color. It looked awful.
