Duel
The PC and the internet are just tools and as such they should not become substitute for life, friends and human contact. It is easy for parents to let their children be on the computer because they tend to be quiet, but it does not make them better kids. And the health impact is non negligeable (bad for the eyes and back). So, I personnally limit the amount of time my kids is on the computer, but I most of the time don't even have to because they have other activities where the computer is not needed, and they often don't have the computer on the top of their prio list
Should we control how much time our kids spend on the computer or consider it like a tool like a pen or a piece of paper?
Fetching blurbs now... please stand byIt is such an important part of life today that we should let them become expert at it as early as possible. It is a bit like the radio 40 years ago, or video games 20 years ago. Not worth fightinf it
Like everything, it should be moderated, specially to make sure they don't get exposed to porn or abuse

It is hard because I work on the computer at home a lot and my son sees me on it, so he too wants to "play"

Games recommendation
Games your kids will enjoy doing
MonopolyPublisher: Hasbro (http://www.hasbro.com/games/kid-games/monopoly/)
is an all times classic but it never fails to get my kids engaged. They learn to count, learn to project themselves in the (near) future and learn some simple principles of the world we live in. Too bad property prices don't go down like they do now...
Don't Pick Your Nose
Publisher: 4bambini (http://www.4bambini.com/)
is another favorite and my personal favorite. This games is about good manners and through pretty flash cards, it got my children to learn all the most important rules while having a lot of fun in the process.
Labyrinthe
Publisher: Ravensburger (www.ravensburger.com)
is a good way to learn to play in space while anticipating 2 dimentional impact of moves. It is great to increase anticipation skills.
Kaplan
(http://www.kaplanco.com/wooden-toys.asp)
is perfect for kids to learn how to build, learn balance and weight/counterweight, while playing with a high quality material (wood). Really nice and simple

- Just saw some new games which I like. One is another title from 4bambini and it is about safety for the kids (http://www.4bambini.com/home/watch-out/) and what to do in different situation. This game makes sense to me as so many of the accidents our kids go through could easily be avoided had we forewarned them. For instance, my son for himselft in trouble two weeks ago with the toolbox of my husband and I saw this is exactly one of the topics of this game. Same two cure characters as in the game about manners mentionned above. Right on!
Another game I like very much is this site. You might know it already, but for educaional games, this is a great souce http://www.playkidsgames.com/ There, you will find maths games, letter games and so on. A great way to go over what was learned at school in a fun way.
More games next week. Send me your idas.
