Very cool lens. Daizy earned her Canine Good Citizen (CGC) a little while ago, and we are seriously thinking about Rally as the next thing to do together.

Never heard of it but it sounds interesting! I definitely need to be able to give hand signs to get any sort of obedience out of my dog.

I want my Mini Dachshund to try her luck at Rally! She might surprise me!!

This is my all-time favourite dog sport, and my dogs love it too. Rally-O is really just starting to get popular here in eastern Canada, though - agility and flyball tend to rule - so it can be hard to find competitions to enter. Fortunately, that's starting to change... now if we could only get CKC and CARO to agree on the same set of rules... :)

I am very interested in this, sounds like just want I need with my dog. He needs someone to amuse him or give him a job!

Great lens! I live in the UK and hadn't heard of rally obedience before but just took a look on Google and it seems to be a recent arrival on our shores. Really enjoyed reading your lens about it.

Is there an example of the courses out there? It sounds like a fun way for dogs to get exercise and training.
  • JohannTheDog Dec 13, 2011 @ 4:02 pm | delete
We found some, and added them today. Scroll up and check for 'sample courses' in the resource section. Thanks!

I love this lens and your video! I have a dog also. Lexie. She isn't quite rally material. Yet. This site makes the idea of training Lexie to rally a fun idea. Not that we would be show material, but it would be fun doing the training!

Nice lens and I wish I had the patience to do obedience training with my husky/malamute, but she's a challenge! Haha :-)

Would have liked to see the videos, but they weren't working.

Helpful lens, good points. Some of our Siberian Huskies over the years have been a challenge for "obedience training" but love and consistent training paid off in the end. Thank you for sharing your insights!

After hearing about Rally O, my mom decided to let me try out. At first I wasn't sure why she wanted me to do more than walk and socialize like a good boy, but then I saw how much fun it was to figure this out as a team and I started to love Rally O. I have my first competition under my belt, with a qualifying score of 97, and in 2-weeks I'll be strutting my stuff again. It sure is fun!

I'd never heard about Rally Obedience before. It DOES sound like great fun for both dog and handler. Almost like a Dog Game! :)

I'm just getting into rally, but wanted to point out that CARO is a rally organization in Canada that you might want to add to yuor list of Rally-O organizations. Thanks for the good info. Kim
