One of the biggest stars in German music
Rammstein took their name indirectly from the western German town of Ramstein, site of an airshow disaster in 1988. The band's signature song, the eponymous "Rammstein", is a commemoration of the tragedy that took place at the Ramstein Air Base. The extra "m" in the band's name means that it translates literally as "ramming stone" or "battering ram", reinforcing the style of music the band plays. (read more)

Rammstein
Rammstein is definitely one of the most refereshing and challenging rock acts of the last years. Since their appearance in David Lynch's "Lost Highway", the band received a wide attention around the globe and Rammstein videos couldn't possibly be left out in any MTV rock show. Their spectacular videos and firespitting live performances resulted in a Grammy nomination for Best Metal Act and to 2 million albums sold in the US to date. It is hard to think of any other foreign speaking rock band whose lyrics are sung along by 20.000 or more American fans in their live shows.
