I look for opportunities to help others every day. And since it really feels good to give, its like being kind to yourself.
  • slappywalker Mar 8, 2012 @ 1:49 am | delete
I just try to carry myself with a smile every day. If that can cheer someone up, then I have done a good job. I think it's the unplanned and unannounced things that often mean the most.

Try to be the best person that I can. A touching lens. The Five Love languages is a powerful book. We'd all be happier if we learned to talk each others love language. Thank you for sharing.

I try to be kind to people when I have the chance, also always try to be nice to people I don't know (yet). you never know what kind of problems they have to deal with.

I enjoyed the part where you compare what different religions say about kindness. I read a book called World Scriptures that compares what all the major religions, and also some lesser known ones say on a thosand different topics. Using vocabulary and corresponding cultural expressions each religion practically say the same with different words.

I like to try and let a car out when driving into work during rush hour as I know what it is like waiting for a suitable gap in busy traffic. I like to think that if I let someone in front of me, then they will do the same for someone else, and so it goes on...

If everyone did one randomly kind thing a day the world would be a much better place.

Angel Blessed (health is my neighborhood, but this should be health btw)

This is not a 'Random' act of kindness -- it's on purpose -- featuring on and lensrolling this wonderful reminder to celebrate kindness every day to my 'finally finished' (from last Fall) angel lens.

Random acts of Kindness as small as a smile, a touch, a caring hug when needed, or as large as 'help when needed' make such a difference.

Our family was given a "Pay it Forward" lesson long before the phrase was coined. In 1971 we were getting ready for a major move. We had to load up a U-haul and get on the road in one day while keeping track of 3 children under 10 - one just a baby. A young couple we'd befriended came over early on moving day - without being told - and helped us load the van, told care of our children, brought food, and stayed to help clean the house we were leaving - all of which just generally made our lives easier that day. I remember saying how much their help was appreciated and that there was no way we could repay their kindness. They said "you don't 'repay' us -- you help the next person you find who needs it as others have done for us. I never forgot it, and have found that 'random acts of kindness' have become a way of life for our family ever since.

This is a wonderful reminder, not just of Kindness Day/Week, but of how we should live our lives everyday. Kindness, caring, and affirmations can make our world a much happier place. This deserves a ~~SquidAngel Blessing~~

What a wonderful idea for a lens! I'm amazed at your resources. Hope you don't mind if I share part of an Emily Dickinson poem:"To do a magnanimous thing/And take oneself by surprise/If one's self is not in the habit of him/Is precisely the finest of Joys......" 5*/fav/roll to free-just-because-verses. Thanks Leanne!

Had to loop back and bless this lens; I thought it was wonderful when I first read it but didn't have angel wings at the time. :)
  • aesta1 Mar 29, 2010 @ 8:14 pm | delete
Great lens. Kindness has to be celebrated. We often take this for granted. I will bed more conscious of this now especially doing something that no one will even notice.
  • Pastiche Mar 18, 2010 @ 10:03 am | delete
I try to sprinkle goodness at every opportunity, not just on one day of the year. Sometimes it's just putting a coin in a meter, paying the toll for the car behind me on the highway, straightening up the magazines in a waiting room or wiping up the sink after washing hands in a restaurant ... lovely lens and I fully endorse random acts of kindness, even to not so nice neighbors.
  • MomwithAHook Mar 18, 2010 @ 8:47 am | delete
Love this lens. You have some excellent quotes here. I especially enjoy the one by Mother Teresa - she was a wise kind soul.

Great lens and another act of kindness would be to stop using plastic so top marks, lenrolled to and featured on Plastic is death. Thanks for the blessing on that lens Leanne.

It was lovely to see just how enthusiastic my two children got about this idea. They each made a present of a needle-felted bird and hid it in the park for another child to find - and the excitement and pleasure level was sky high! Just shows giving is more fun than receiving. Thanks for the lens Leanne.

Awesome idea! I've heard of people paying for someone's groceries in the lineup, but never in a McDonald's drive-thru!
  • LeanneChesser Sep 30, 2009 @ 5:53 pm | in reply to theraggededge | delete
Oh, I don't think that's a creepy thing at all. I think it's a great idea! It's like the comment from shajo (below) about paying for the person's McDonald's order.
  • theraggededge Sep 30, 2009 @ 5:36 pm | delete
Yes, smiles are something we should all do more off. It is my intention to be a smiley person tomorrow. When I was richer, I used to search random Amazon wishlists and when I found one I liked the look of, I'd select a book (always a book) and have it sent to that person. It gave me a kick but someone told me it was a creepy thing to do so I stopped :-)
  • oztoo Sep 29, 2009 @ 3:32 pm | delete
What a great and thoughtful lens. Well actually thought provoking lens. It's so simple to give a smile or a thankyou and it costs you nothing yet can mean alot to the recipricant.
    Love it.

Wow this is a great lens!! :) Our local newspaper has as section where people can call in or email comments and I just read the other day where someone wrote to say thank you to a stranger who was ahead of them in the drive-thru at McDonalds who payed for their order. When they got to the window to pay, it was allready taken care of! I thought that was really neat!
