Raphael was an inspiring artist his paintings are fascinating and a pleasure to behold full of detail and color.

I continue to be captivated by these artist of old who had such vivid imaginations. The works that they produced continue to be popular and it is rare that anyone comes along that can match their abilities.

Raphael His Early Years

He was born on either April 6th or possibly March 28th in 1483. Raffaello Sanzio da Urbino was known as Raphael, an Italian painter and architect.

Some of his works can be found in the Apostolic Palace of the Vatican called the Raphael Rooms.

He lost both of his parents by the time he was eleven. His mother died in 1491 when he was eight and his father died on August 1st 1494, he had remarried. His uncle Bartolomeo a priest then became his guardian. Following litigation with his stepmother, it is believed he lived with her when he was not living as an apprentice with a master.

The Fall On The Road To Calvary

Raphael died on April 6th 1520, but led a very productive life. A rather large body of his works still remains intact today. he lived an eccentric life in a grand style and lived in a palace.

Raphael never married but is known to have had many women. Margherita Luti the daughter of a baker seems to have been the one women always a part of his life. Raphael left provisions for her care in his will.

Disputation of the Holy Sacrament

His first composition the Disputation of the Holy Sacrament is the traditional name for the Adoration of the Sacrament. Raphael imagined an image of the church in the painting as spanning both heaven and earth.
