Rasputina and Melora Creager

Melora Creager began playing the cello at the age of nine. She soon fell out of practice for several years until she decided to pick the cello back up while she was in college. She played as a touring cellist with alternative rock bands including the Pixies and Nirvana.

Melora felt that the cello was a beautiful and touching instrument, and worked well in a rock band. She was dismayed that every band she played with kept the volume of her cello lower than that of the lead guitar. She decided to start a different kind of rock band which was made up entirely of cellos.
