How Was the Grammy Award Performance by the Rap Pack A Tribute to Dean Martin?

Who Was the Pregnant Lady At the Grammy's?
I was nervous for rap artist M.I.A. scared she was going to have to count on Kanye West to act as midwife with Jay Z as the R.N (rap nurse) with plenty of baby bounce rapping alongside the rest of the Rap Pack T.I. and Lil Wayne.

Odd Couplings Give Grammy Ratings an Unexpected Boost
As newspapers ax their entertainment columnists, Lisa de Moraes is one of the few remaining professional critics who covered the Grammy Awards. Check out her post Grammy analysis and suggestions for next year's broadcast The TV Column in the Washington Post.

Dean Martin To Receive Lifetime Achievement Award At Grammy's
Although a killer performance, how was performing Swagga Like Us in any way a tribute to Dean Martin aside from the cool demeanor of the original Rat Pack? What if instead of the Rap Pack we were able to have the original Rat Pack perform instead at the Grammy Tribute featuring the original swaggas of Sinatra, Martin and Davis Jr. Who Would Perform?

Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr.
If I had a chance to be a concert promoter back in the day when jazzsters were suave hipsters -- the epitome of cool with lit cigarettes in hand and highball glasses as performance props -- here's who I would put on the bill of the ultimate Rat Pack Dream Concert. In some ways a virtual concert is a plus, no worries about conflicting schedules, no carbon offsets or a huge budget needed to fly performers in, no scalpers to fret about and a front row seat waiting just for you.

Reserved Front Row Seats
By the way, we have a V.I.P. seat reserved for you seated between Marilyn Monroe & Angie Dickinson, but you can always ask Cary Grant to switch with you if you prefer to sit near Bogart and Bacall.

2009 Grammy Award Tribute

Dean Martin Honored at the 2009 Grammy Awards

On February 8, 2009, at the 51st Grammy Awards, Dean Martin was awarded a Grammy Lifetime Achievement award for his numerous contributions to the music industry. He was a truly talented and charming man who definitely deserved this award. Dean's daughter and grandson are in the audience... The actual Grammy clip begins at around 15 seconds and it's kind of short but still worth seeing...oh and watch the surprise montage at the end! **No copyright infringement intended. I DO NOT own the music, pictures, or video** Thank you! Thanks to CBS & of course, Dean Martin! Enjoy and don't forget to rate/comment!

The Pre-Show with Johnny Carson

Don Rickles & Frank Sinatra on the Tonight Show

If there were a Rat Pack concert today, you would expect E! Entertainment Television to have Ryan Seacrest out on the red carpet trying to rangle Dean Martin or Sammy Davis Junior into a 30 second sound bite. Or there would be a pre-show special with Barbara Walters trying to squeeze a tear out of the Chairman of the Board. In our Virtual Rat Pack concert, the pre-show is hosted by Johnny Carson with Ed McMahon chortling in the background.

Rat Pack Entry On Wikipedia

The Rat Pack is the nickname given to a group of popular entertainers most active between the mid-1950s and mid-1960s. Its most famous line-up featured Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis, Jr., Peter Lawford and Joey Bishop, who appeared together in films and on stage in the early-1960s, including Ocean's Eleven.

Despite its reputation as a masculine group, the Rat Pack did have female participants, including movie icons Shirley MacLaine, Lauren Bacall, Angie Dickinson, Marilyn Monroe, and Judy Garland.

The Rat Pack was a supergroup of actors and jazz musicians originally centered on Humphrey Bogart. In the mid-1960s it was the name used by the press and the general public to refer to a group that called itself "the summit" or "the clan," featuring Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis, Jr., Peter Lawford and Joey Bishop, who appeared together on stage and in films in the early-1960s, including the movie Ocean's Eleven''.UNLV Libraries, The Rat Pack, retrieved May 2, 2007
