EFT For A Pet Rat?

I have one of those amazing EFT stories that we hear all the time, but this one is truly amazing! One night my 10-year-old son comes into my office, way after bedtime I might add, but almost in tears holding one of his pet rats, Remy.
The rat was making a strange honking, wheezing sound every time he breathed and was drooling uncontrollably. Very strange in deed!
My son was asking if we should take him to the vet, and the first thing flashing through my mind is "Oh my gosh, are you nuts?! An after hours vet call for a pet that cost $5 to buy!"
Thankfully, I only internalized this thought and realized I had to do something for poor Remy. After all, my son Nigel and I were quite fond of this normally vivacious, extremely affectionate and loveable, albeit smelly, rodent.

Tapping Therapy

So, as we head back into his room, I say, "I'll do some EFT for him." We put Remy back in his cage to observe him a bit at first so I can come up with some good setup phrases. He was definitely not feeling himself or very well at all, he just kept wanting to lay down and the drooling was stressing him as well.
So I started with a few phrases as though I was speaking for Remy and mixing it up with some phrases as if I was him. Some thing like this:
"Even though Remy is not feeling well and is making an odd wheezing noise, we deeply and completely love and care for him."
"Even though he is scared and we are scared for him, we choose to feel calm."
"Even though I don't feel well and am drooling uncontrollably, I choose to get through this." Something to that effect, I don't remember exactly, I was just doing what ever came to mind as I watched him. I did about 2 rounds of that, probably more for our own worry at this point.

A Pet Rat Allergy?

Then it dawned on me that he was probably having an allergic reaction to something and that it was probably difficult for him to breath, so I added that to my setup phrase and continued and wouldn't you know the wheezing suddenly stopped!
I then continued with some positive phrases and the drooling immediately dried up and Remy began washing himself up and was basically his old self again, although a bit tired from the whole ordeal. This all took less than 10 minutes!
As I held Remy afterwards, his extreme affection by licking my hands with his little tongue and snuggling in my neck was an understood thank you. I tucked Nigel back in bed and all was quiet again a few minutes later.

A Happy Boy And Happy Rat

Before I headed to bed, I went in and checked on the rats and Remy and Snowy were both hanging on the side of the cage bright eyed and eager for attention. We figured that Remy probably had an allergic reaction to some black berries (or the possible pesticides because they weren't organic) that Nigel had given his pets about 5-10 minutes before the troubles began.
This was such an amazing thing to be a part of and for Nigel to witness. I am so grateful to not have had to tell my son that there was nothing I could do for his rat and watch him cry as I tell him it's too expensive to take a rat to the vet. Can you imagine what that vet bill would have been?!

Interesting story. Rats are very prone to respiratory infections, so next time if you do not have as much success you could take Remy to the vets and get some Baytril or Doxycycline. These aren't too expensive.
And a note to everyone who is thinking of getting a pet rat - they make be cheap to buy, but they are very prone to tumors and respiratory infections, so be prepared to take them to the vets. The money you pay for them does not indicate the worth of their life. All pets deserve treatment when they are feeling unwell.

Fascinating story - I'm constantly amazed at how well EFT works even though I have been using it for years now.

Rats like to occupy my home, every now and again--of the wild variety--and are smart as any of God's creatures--probably more so.

Maybe I'll use EFT to get them to move on next time??
