My journey out of the rat race.

Many of us are disillusioned with the work-life balance provided by our 9-to-5 jobs. This is my story. What's yours? Rat race reject, seeking buried cheese.

Welcome to your guide out of the rat race. You'll learn how I've used my knowledge of everyday topics that I know and love, to create passive income and financial freedom.

Where do I start?

This is a list of some of my favorite starting points, for escaping the rat race.

Find your buried cheese
What's your true calling? What would you be doing every day, if you had more money than you could count sitting in the bank? Why aren't you doing that, anyways?
The Golden Rat Trap
Why do we stay in the rat race, even while accepting that WE HATE IT?!? The guilty pleasure. The embarasssing truth. Of the golden rat trap.
Rat Race Escape Milestones
So what's the terrain look like along the escape route? How do you know you're not just going in circles? Must read about goal setting, and establishing milestones.
What (income) getaway vehicle should I drive???
I love this one. So we al hear of a dozen "good ideas" of how to make money, every week. Which ones are for real, which ones make sense, and which ones make sense FOR YOU?

Here's a way to compare them objectively.
Escape Vehicle: Affiliate Marketing
Affiliate Marketing 101. Also includes a free 10-day PDF ebook, titled "The Affilate Masters Course", by Ken Evoy. Breaks affiliate marketing down in a humorous and straightforward manner.
Escape Vehicle: Network Marketing
Network Marketing 101. Shines a light on the fundamentals of network marketing, including its pros and cons. Network marketing is NOT for everyone... I've tried it twice unsuccessfully... but haven't given up on it. See if its for you.
So what's your Rat Race Escape Plan?
Everybody's got to have a plan.

EVERYbody's got to have a plan.

Here's your blueprint. Shh. Keep it on the low... here come the guards...

6 Ways to Find (and Keep) Your True Calling

If you didn't have to work for "the man" every day, what would you do? Every day?

So many of us spend more than half of our waking hours, doing something they we aren't completely enthusiastic about. That doesn't excite us when we get out of bed in the morning.

Don't get me wrong. A lot of people love and enjoy their jobs. But this is about questioning what we have designed our lives to revolve around.

If you didn't have to work 40 (or 50 or 60 or 70) hours a week doing what you currently do, how would you spend your time every day?

  1. I dare you to dream big.

  2. Goals & Milestones.

  3. Breathe life into dreams with dead lines.

  4. Leverage - Use systems to harness the power of many.

  5. Hope, don't cope.

  6. Protect your Dreams.

Who's Your Rat Race Pied Piper?

Because we all have our vices & guilty pleasures... keeping us in the rat race.

We all have our vices. And though we may agree, in theory, that it sure would be nice (or even ideal) to be able to make a living without giving so much of ourselves to a corporate employer... inertia is a powerful thing.

So who's keeping you tied to the rat race?
Is it Sammy Cynic?
Conservative Connie?
Tommie Tomorrow?

Find out who your Rat Race Pied Piper is...

Which of these is your Rat Race Pied Piper?

We all have our vices and guilty pleasures, keeping us in the Rat Race.

Which is yours? Select the one that most matches the "invisible but palpable" force keeping you stuck in the Rat Race!

How do you compare passive income opportunities?

Objectively? :) (Don't believe the hype - here's a tool to use.)

Now that we have a good understnding of what passive income is, here's a simple memory aid that I've developed to help you compare specific passive income opportunities. I've found it useful, hopefully you will also.

P assive vs Active.
A rchitect vs Landlord.
S ell (re-sell) vs Serve.
S mart work vs Hard work.
I nvoluntary (like breathing) vs. Voluntary(like eating)
V ehicle to a goal vs Being the goal itself.
E ighty-Twenty rule - Find your best 20%, and focus on it.

I love the artwork at the top of your lens, Escape The Rat Race. I've escaped, initially through being fortunate enough to be able to be a stay-at-home Mom. Now I'm an eBay Power Seller and a Squidoo Lensmaster, which can be crazy too but at least I am somewhat in control.

Nice to meet you, Bolaji, at the Campfire Chat today. I'll be looking to see more of your work here on Squidoo!

Hi Steve - glad you like the lens! I do google searches to find pics... And I sometimes use picnik.com to add captions to my graphics. It's free. :) Another good, free, online image editing tool is Splashup.com

The first one with the Rat racing down the lane is a custom-created one, though. I had an artist named Jason Dube of ScatteredComics.com create that for me.
