I Laughed Out Loud At This - But I Now Eat Humble Pie

In the film Love Actually it features a fruitarian who comes in for a bit a stick. She is an extreme form of a new diet which concentrates on raw foods. These diets are not new, but the eating plans that focus on them are and this trend in healthy eating appears to be gaining strength across Europe. The focus of the diet is on eating uncooked, highly nutritious foods - fruits and vegetables but not meat or any animal products. Raw Food Diet - is it for you or not

it is not as easy as it sounds

Those who subscribe to the raw food diet eat fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds, and legumes. Some drink unpasteurized milk (some exclude all dairy products), water, juice, and tea. It is a revolutionary (some would say reverse evolutionary) way to eat, but it is undoubtedly a natural way. It may keep them thin and healthy.

However, while the raw food fruit, vegetable diet is rich in some nutrients, it lacks others. Although fruits and vegetables do have some protein and calcium the amounts any variety of essential amino acids is limited. There is no agreement about the health aspects of this diet - but what is sure is that it can help with health issues and weight in the short term.

Another thing to consider when taking up a raw food diet is that most of the fruits and vegetables that you see in your supermarket are loaded with pesticides. Therefore, it might be best to consume only organic raw food.

The raw food diet is missing some key nutrients and consequently you will need to consider either intelligent supplementation or eating a very wide range of foods - some of which are not that pleasant.
