Raw Food Diet
What can you expect and what are your benefits by going on a raw foods diet?
Some of my friends are eating raw because they feel cooking, freezing or otherwise processing foods is destroying the good in the food, like killing the vitamins, bacteria, and enzymes.
Also, cooking makes food harder to digest, in part due to destroying enzymes which are acting as catalysts in the digestion of food.
Raw food has less chemicals and preservatives (usually). Eating raw is like the ultimate in all natural. Raw food is also not toxic (or less so) and more easily digested, you'll be getting more vitamins and minerals than eating processed foods. Plus have you been reading labels on your favorite foods. Like you need a chemistry degree just to understand what the heck is on the label.
Eating raw can improve your health, lower risk of a heart disease, giving an enhanced easier digestion, getting a better skin appearance, and increasing your energy.
What Are The Disadvantages? An important concern in a raw food diet is the lack of animal proteins. One needs to get all the essential amino acids. This may take some additional looking around. Traditional fast food is out, but that's a plus in a big way.
Make sure you're getting proper nutrition and adequate protein and vitamin B12, a raw foodist may consider supplements.
You'll need more info before you change your diet.
Raw food diet can be a way of life or a mindset, composed of eating raw and living a foods life. Raw food to me means foods, like; fruits, vegetables, nuts and seeds. This may be vegetarian or vegan in lifestyle too. The raw foodist eats foods that have not been cooked, frozen, or treated with chemical preservatives.
Think now of three types of raw food diets…
- Living foodists, who eat a diet made up of plant food that are in an active state, like sprouted foods including: nuts and seeds.
-Juicarians, who eat a diet of juices.
-Raw foodists, non-vegetarians, eating raw meats and unpasteurized milk etc.

...more on the Raw Food Diet
Going on a raw food diet can mean a detox for your body, you may experience side effects. Going on raw diet means start slowly, never rush in life anyways. You'll be starting with one raw meal a day. This can be easier on your body as well as your habits. Think of this as a change in lifestyle that can last and last as you're feeling better and better. For me raw food means Organic food. Organic is the very best kind of raw. While organic foods can be more expensive then regular foods, they can also be more convenient, as there are many organic growers are delivering organic produce to your door. Or this may be a good time to start that organic garden you always wanted.
When you find out all you need to know on the raw food diet, are you ready to start, like soon?

Raw Food Diet The Raw Food Detox Diet: The Five-Step Plan for Vibrant Health and Maximum Weight Loss
this book by Natalia Rose is getting good buzz
I hate to call it a diet because I feel it is a change for life. I am eating raw for breakfast (usually "juice" and fruit, and for lunch as well with a cooked dinner. How could anyone argue with eating more fruits and veggies? The food combining takes a little practice and thought, but I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who wants a healthier way of eating with a bonus of shedding pounds!I am new to the world of raw food and if you are too, this book is an excellent place to get started...in fact, it will carry you from where you are currently with your eating all the way to totally raw, if that's where you want to go. The recipes are wonderful, and you won't have to be buying rare, exotic foods in order to make it work. A juicer is recommended, and I bought the one the author suggests. Simply, if you want to explore the world of raw eating, start with this book%u2026
This books offers a practical plan for eating healthy for life. If you already feel like you are eating as healthy as you possibly can, then this book is not for you. But if you need improvement (no you may not achieve the greatness of vegans or raw foodist) you will find yourself eating better than before and actually thinking about what you eat and when---without being overwhelmed because you change in steps.
From cover to cover this book speaks the truth about our terrible eating habits in America. If you can follow this plan, you will feel incredibly good, lose weight (if you want to) and probably stave off a multitude of diseases. The author promotes several levels of dietary changes, so it isn't an all or nothing type of program. Even implementing the first level will have long-term health benefits.
I've been a vegetarian for the last 3.5 years so started at Level 3 of the detox diet. I'm not following the diet to lose any weight but, in following the basic tenement of not mixing certain food groups together, my digestive system has become slicker than ever.
The author really shines in advising you how to make the transition to a more or entirely raw food lifestyle, and her recipes are tailored to raw food for busy people.. A common frustration for people trying to get into raw food is leafing through their raw "cook" book for a recipe for dinner, only to find that they needed to sprout something 3 days ago, or dehydrate something for 12 - 24 hours in a dehydrator - not useful if it's 7PM and you're hungry NOW. If you continue to pursue a raw food lifestyle, you'll learn to adapt to this mode of food preparation, but at first it can be a real barrier. These recipes focus on quick preparations, and so sidestep these common pitfalls.
Consequently as a health guide, I find those claims dubious at best.
Her recommendations for monthly colonics and/or regular enemas strike me as reckless and quite possibly antagonistic to the process of truly detoxifying your body.
Even the food combination rules are questionable at best, so read them with a healthy dose of skepticism.
The author suggests that you won't need to be concerned about hydration or sunscreen on a raw food diet, for example.
Proper hydration will help you eliminate toxins and help you regulate your appetite, and since your skin is your body's largest eliminative organ, you should protect it! An EXCELLENT guide to the detoxification process is "Internal Cleansing" by Linda Berry. It describes sources of toxicity, and provides a very holistic approach to eliminating toxins from your food, environment and body.
If you think you may be heading toward an eating disorder (anorexia/bulimia), or if you already have one, you'd do well to consult with a counselor or medical practitioner before making a switch to ANY structured eating plan, since it's possible to go overboard with the food rules and use them as an excuse to deprive yourself of nutrition. Especially if your body has already been compromised by malnutrition and/or abuse of laxatives, work with a nutritionist, naturopath or physician who is familiar with eating disorders and can help you develop a healthy and lasting lifestyle change.
If you want to make a lasting change to any aspect of your life, take your time, be gentle with yourself, focus on the process, and pay attention to triggers that cause you to lapse back into unwanted behavior patterns. You'll also want to pay careful attention if you find yourself getting too fixated or rigid with your diet.
I really enjoyed this book even though a lot of it was reiterating things I've always known - fresh vegetables and fruits are healthy for you, and make you feel amazing. However, it was very smart of the author to include meals that help you progress to eating more raw meals gradually, since cold turkey diets set people up for failure so often!
. I'm definitely recommending this read to some of my friends!

May I suggest that this author and others that are interested in health read the China Study by T. Colin Campbell,PhD and Diet for a New America by John Robbins
Like you, I have been doing a lot of research on raw diets recently and because of this, I've bought a lot of books on the subject.
I love - LOVE the green lemonade, detox pizza and quesadillas - and that's only a few that I've tried so far! Everything in this book makes complete sense to me, one example of that is to start off incorporating raw foods to your diet slowly, it's okay to have a cooked dinner with your family. It's not as extreme as other books suggest. I'm also learning to buy healthier things such as sprouted breads, which my two children love to toast. It's just a much easier approach to not only raw foods, but a healthier life. Buy this one, you won't regret it! My only other suggestion is to check out the book, "The China Study".
This book has been very helpfull as I start down this road to raw food health. I have tried many recipes and most have been very good. She does have some extreme views towards cleansing that I'm not quite sure about at this time but I am new to this so we will see. I do like the fact that she does not say you have to eat all raw and stresses not diving head first into a raw food life style as to not fail, but says the goal is superior cell health, not exclusively a raw food diet.
I love this book and this "diet". I didn't get this book to go on a diet, but to eat in a healthier way. It was very interesting to read and learn about the way our bodies react to food. I do feel the difference in eating this way. I also like the fact that you don't just crash into this diet, there are five levels of eating this way so I started in one level and my husband actually joined in on his level because he liked it so much. We all agree that there is definitely a change in energy when you eat the raw food diet. I would suggest this book to anyone who wants to feel better overall!
If you are trying to detox, loose weight and transition to raw foods, this is the book for you. It is a perfectly laid out plan of attack based on your past eating habits and personal issues. It helps you get there without going "cold turkey". You don't have to give up your
. It is a book that you will keep on the kitchen table and use every day if not at every meal. It is a MUST have. The recipes are truly delicious and easy and my life has truly changed for the better because of this book. Don't pass this one up! Blessed be All...
This book was instrumental in getting my raw food diet off the ground. She helped me understand why the foods I was eating were making me feel so bad and gain so much weight, and her 5-step process of changing to the diet made it really easy.
I really liked all of the recipes she had in the back of the book. I don't even like vegetables (weird choice of diet, I know) but a lot of the recipes made even ME love them!
I love Natalia's book: it differs from other raw recipe and information books because it does not require a 100% immediate transformation to a new way of eating. Natalia offers a gradual and safe program for those interested in making a permanent change to their diet and health program by delineating five coherent and progressively more healthy phases for change.
Natalia's advice helped me relax and enjoy my eating program, and focus on the my real goal: healthy cells!
I read this book a week ago and have mostly forgotten all the aggravations, but I what I remember most is my desire to tear it up and throw it against the wall. Rose made up a diet for herself that works, and now she is telling the whole world to do the same thing.
The single-most-alarming issue is her advocacy for Splenda (aka sucralose), which is included in many of her recipes. Any real nutritionist would know that sugar is better for you. This should discredit her entirely, and her publisher should have responsibly rejected this book.
Best book ever for those interested in taking charge of getting your body back into a life-sustaining mode. People who don't like the book are either not ready for the concepts or haven't read it clearly and understood it. Food combining is crucial and Natalia takes it to a level that no one else has or is afraid to because it may not have scientific proof by all the debunkers out there. As we know, science isn't always the best tool to gauge something by. Remember when they thought the world was flat? hmmm....By far, the best book I ever read. I absolutely LOVE the recipes and found it so easy to transition into the combining of foods.

Raw Honey or just honey... -Deal or NO Deal???
Just one little raw tip that can make a difference for you
When you eat honey use only use raw honey...reading the label even if you get your honey at a health food store, always.
I heard about an experiment where bee keepers spay honey water on their bees to gentle them down. It works on bees but only raw honey works:) -the cooked honey kills the bees in 15-20 minutes:(
In humans honey is a food that heals or hurts... -cooked honey is not so good blocking mucus but raw honey has an abundance of healing proprieties (use in moderation because honey=calories).
What to include in your Raw Foods picks
Fresh Fruits and Veggies are a blessing:
Think about this; When you do anything ask yourself 'Is it healthy or not healthy, my father always was saying; is this moving you toward or away from your (*life's*) purpose'?
--------------------------------------------
just a little personal tip to help folks :^)
--------------------------------------------
AND Is it really raw and NOT processed, never above 118 Fahrenheit.
- Fruits or vegetables: Any fresh fruits or vegetables. Think: Fresh-Fresh-Fresh the fresher the better. If you can pick your own you can't get any fresher.
Sprouts are Fresh, like a breath of life - you can sprout your own, and eat these life rich foods while they're still living. - Nuts and Seeds - Lots of nuts are raw and go through no heat processing, yes.
- Sprouts are Fresh, like a breath of life - you can sprout your own, and eat these life rich foods while they're still living.
- Dates - Dates are often sun dried and great. conventional dates can be dried and then steamed to make them look "FAT" and moist.
- Dried Fruits- All too many dried fruits in the natural food shops have been cooked. But think of this get a food drier and dry you own, its fun, yummy and can save you a bundle. I got a family size food drier on eBay for under $30.00 with shipping. You can make your own drying system too.
- Young Coconuts - Young coconuts are a excellent source of electrolytes, the best purified water and a good source of fat and calcium.
- Green Powders - Say yes to green. They are not heat processed and are "raw" and dried at a low temperature, and do not include toxic additives. Think dried wheatgrass, blue green algae, barleygreen, etc.
Raw Honey - get honey that includes the pollen and propolis, a more "whole" food and local raw honey is so good for you and processed honey cause health issues in some folks - Dried vegetables, herbs and spices for flavoring - I have not checked to see if these are in fact considered "raw" or if they have been heat treated in the drying process. Whenever possible dry your own herbs and spices, and use as sparingly as possible.
- Olives - Nothing like a raw olives, yum. Raw olives can be very hard to get. Think about getting raw olives are sun dried raw olives. Manny canned olives were cooked. Most olives are packed in a vinegar or lactic acid brine some say no way.
- Frozen Fruits - It seems most frozen fruits are not blanched before freezing, so they would qualify as "raw". It is better to eat fresh fruit or just freeze fruits yourself.
- Sea Weeds - Sea weeds such as nori, dulse, Laver, sea lettuce, kombu can be sundried.
- Frozen Vegetables - are most often blanched before being quick frozen so do not think of them as raw.
The concept of a raw food diet
your say raw... I say no way :o)
If 75-100% of a person's total food consumption is raw food, she'is considered a raw foodist.
Raw foodists typically believe that the greater the percentage of raw food in the diet, the greater the health benefits.
Raw foodism or a raw diet is usually equated with raw veganism in which only raw plant foods are eaten, other raw foodists emphasize raw meat and other raw animal products.
Depending on the type of lifestyle and results desired, raw food diets may include a select%u0131on of raw fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds (including sprouted whole grains such as gaba rice), eggs, fish (such as sashimi), meat (such as carpaccio), and non-pasteurized/non-homogenized dairy products (such as raw milk, raw cheese, and raw yogurt).
Raw foodists can be divided between those that advocate raw vegetarianism or raw veganism, those that advocate a raw omnivorous diet, and those that advocate a diet of only raw animal foods (carnivorous).
Adherents of raw foodism believe that consumption of uncooked foods encourages weight loss (and stability, without the risk of re-gaining), while also preventing and/or healing many forms of sickness and chronic diseases.
Medical studies have suggest that different forms of raw food diets may lead to various health problems, while other studies have shown positive health outcomes with such diets.
