Reading FC is a professional football club, playing in the English Championship League, after narrowly losing their premiership status at the end of the 2007-2008 season.
While Reading FC has yet to win any domestic or European titles, they went against all odds in their first ever season in the Premier League, and finished in 8th spot (2006-2007), securing some remarkable results on the way and taking points from well established Premiership teams. Surprisingly they failed to build on their success, and was relegated the following season.
Reading FC play their home games at the Madejski Stadium, a 24,000 capacity all-seater stadium named after the club chairman, but fully owned by the club. Plans to extend the stadium to a capacity of 37,000 have been approved, and work is expected to commence in the summer of 2008.
Reading FC is managed by Steve Coppell, a former Manchester United and England winger, who prematurely ended his playing career at the age of 28 due to injury. Starting his managerial career in 1984 at the age of 29, he's the youngest ever manager of an English Football League club. He was named Premier League Manager Of The Year 2007.
The team is captained by Graeme Murty, a Scotland internatinal player, playing in the right back position. At the end of his current contract with the club, in the summer of 2009, he has been playing for Reading FC for 10 years.
Other influential players in the squad is Marcus Hahneman (GK), Ivar Ingimarson (D), Leroy Lita (F) and Kevin Doyle (F).
