I purposely have not said what the books are fully about only the general idea. I want people to read outside their normal genre and try something new.

Jasper Ffordes, Thursday Next series.
Starts with the Eyre Affair, and is majorly funny.
If you like comic fantasy and Jane Austen, english lit references then this is the book for you.

Spin by Robert Charles Wilson. This book is not the usual type I read and was surprised by the high quality writing and the entertaining story line.
Sci Fi book with thought provoking characters.
Worth a read if you like to ponder what if the end of the world is near.

The House of Scorpion by Nancy Farmer.
WOW, this book I could not put down and read in a weekend.
Alternate future type book with many twists and well thought out characters. Great book for parents to talk about with their teens. Mostly classified as a young adult book.

Part way through the Crown of Stars series by Kate Elliott. Totally fantasy style books of war and the chosen few who will lead them to victory. Well written and so far no flaws with the continuity of the characters and plot.

Katie MacAlister- Any book by her is funny and worth it. I have read everything she has written so far and have not been dissapointed. They are romance books but are so funny I can over look that part.

MaryJanice Davidson- Undead Queen Besty books. OH MY SHOES! If you love vampire themed books and you love comic tongue in cheek things. Well this is the series for you. Also if you have a strange obession with shoes you might find this series interesting.

Terry Pratchett- Start reading the Discworld series.
Fantasy that is very amusing.

Robert Rankin- British author who's style is very similar to Terry Pratchetts. Make sure to read the books in series order.
My favorite one is The hollow chocolate bunnies of the apocolypse.

Douglas Adams- you cannot go throug life without reading the HitchHikers guide to the galaxy.

Harry Potter- please give the series a try, so much hype of it being good/evil etc. Read it and make up your own mind. I love the series and plan to give it a good reread soon.

Ghosthunting- TAPS Ghost Hunters TV show.
Mindfreak- Criss Angel (part way through)
Book three of the Crown of stars series- Kate Elliot.
Kushiels chosen- Jacqueline Carey
Water for Elephants- (coworker raves about it)
Playing Beatie Bow- Ruth Park(aussie classic book Im going to reread.)
