Why I think it matters
The problem is that every single day people (especially young people) are looking at fake images of "beautiful" people and adverts for "beauty products" as they try to figure out for themselves what they're worth, who they are, and who they want to be.False perceptions of beauty and attractiveness are very bad as the images flashed before us all every day are unattainable, unreal, and non-existent.
It's about self-esteem. Feeling that you don't fit society's expectations of what beauty is.
This is not good.
Why do the film makers think it matters?

"Low self-esteem is an issue thataffects all women regardless of age or
ethnicity. It can lead to introversion,
a withdrawal from normal life and a
waste of potential. At Dove, we believe
that it is time to stop this waste by
developing a more inclusive definition
of beauty."
Dove (at campaignforrealbeauty.com) have started a website you should get involved with. Go and read some of the articles. Take a moment.
Have some fun.
