Yet her life is a story of determination, talent, and lots of practice. In addition, unlike many stars, Britney has handled her finances well - I daresay better than most of her critics.

Britney - the early years

Britney Jean Spears was born on Dec. 2, 1981, to James Parnell Spears and Lynne Irene Bridges. Her mom was a teacher, her dad a building contractor.
Britney studied gymastics until 9 years old.
She auditioned for and was accepted into the New Mickey Mouse Club - along with Christina Aguilera, Justin Timberlake and Keri Russell.
In her teens, she signed with Jive Records.
In 1998 she released her first hit single
"Hit Me Baby One More Time".

Britney's finances

It appears that Britney is not only a great singer, but also a good businesswoman.
Obviously, she makes a lot of money from her song royalties. But she also has investments - together, she makes estimated $750,000 per month.
How many of her detractors make a tenth of that?
She had some bad investments, like a short lived restaurant. But in the end, despite all her other troubles, she is financially in very good shape.
