Leonardo- the Terrible Monster!
This is one of my absolute favorite books! As I'm sure you know if you've read many of my lenses, I totally love Mo Willems! And this book is no exception. When I started reading it, I had one idea of what the book would be like. As I got farther in, I realized I was totally wrong! Mo never ceases to surprise me!

Frank- the Dancing Monster!
"Frank Was a Monster Who Wanted to Dance" is a hilarious book, written in great rhyme. Author Keith Graves does a great job, and the pictures are fantastic! Unfortunately for Frank, he got his boogie on a little too hard, and he started to fall apart. Who'da thunk?!

This fun singalong story is about a monster with a problem. Each time he tries to solve it, it gets worse and worse. Again, a surprise ending!

Nessie- The Picky Monster
This story of the Loch Ness Monster is a great story. It is partially about a monster, and partially about a little girl who is a picky eater. Both sides of the story are great.

A Monster Who Knows It
Another great singalong book from the Emberleys, "If You're a Monster and You Know It" follows the well-known "If You're Happy and You Know It!" Some of the things the monsters do are pretty clever! Again, not a scary monster book, but it's pretty fun!

This book is about a big, scary monster who tried to scare a little boy. It doesn't work because the boy doesn't believe in the monster! Wonderful book!

The Little Monster
A wonderful rhyming book, a monster mommy puts her little monster to bed. This little monster has to take a bath and brush his teeth, just like kids do, but his bedtime snack of beetles and his stuffed slug is slightly different than what human kids do! Well done, Helen Ketteman!

Lala- The Monster Princess
This one is a great rhyming story about a little girl monster who wants to be a princess. The real princesses are nice at first, but then make fun of her. She decides being a princess isn't all it's cracked up to be and she'd rather be who she is. My favorite line: The once gloomy cavern now had a warm glow. Feeling right with yourself will do that, you know.

Monster Mama
In this book, there is a family of monsters. Harry is the middle monster and doesn't feel like Mama loves him as much as his older brother and little sister. In the end, he understands that Mama doesn't have a favorite, and she loves them all the same, but for different reasons.

Monsters and Broccoli
In "Monsters Don't Eat Broccoli," we read about all the silly things monsters eat. Boulders, trucks, and "fish 'n' ships" are on the list. What a great story for picky eaters! And in the end, it turns out monsters DO eat broccoli, because they are just tiny trees!

Seven Scary Monsters has seven monsters breaking into a bedroom at night. One by one, the child gets ride of them using various methods. Once they are all gone, though, there is a little twist. This fun rhyming book is great!

Ok, this book might win for my favorite monster book. (Except maybe Leonardo, just because I love Mo Willems so much.)
"The Monster Show" explains that there are lots of different types of monsters. It is so funny! The pictures are amazing as well. Charise Mericle Harper outdid herself on this one! I am going to look for more books by her and see what else is out there. She may make it on my favorite children's book authors list!

"Welcome to Monster Town" is a great one about all the different monsters and their jobs in Monster Town. Once the sun sets, the town wakes up and the monsters get to work!
"My Creature Teacher" is one I originally picked up for my lens about going to school, but it is a great monster book as well! It's all about a teacher at a monster school, where they do things a little differently than most.
