Realtor Marketing in the 21st Century
Consumers got online to find properties to purchase long before the individual realtor provided their own personally branded internet presence.
It seems the real estate industry was slow to pick up on the importance of the world wide web. Unless you use the internet yourself, you might miss how valuable an asset your web site, and related marketing campaigns can be to your business.
Today's real property buyer is skilled, savvy and selective. Realtors must follow suit with effective internet marketing in order to stay in business.
Effective Internet Marketing
Develop Your Personal Brand
Start a BlogSearch engines love blogs. A blog is easier to publish than a static website so you can add content to it more often. Search engines like websites with original content that's updated frequently and blogs fill that role perfectly.
From a search engine perspective Blogger and WordPress are two of the most popular blogging tools. You can begin with the free versions to get your feet wet then get hosting and host your own blog. You have more creative capacity with the look and function of your blog when you host it yourself.
Plan your theme and subject. Any area of expertise that you have can be elaborated on over time. You can begin collecting ideas and jotting down notes about subjects and then at least once per week, more frequently if you have time, post on your blog.
Build A Website
Even if you've never built a web site before, it's not as challenging today as when I first got on the internet. You can build a web site for free or you can out source it to a professional site builder. I recommend you build one yourself so you can understand how your web site needs to function.
One of the functions is to capture leads. So, you need an autoresponder The autresponder provides a place to store the incoming leads that opt in and provides the form for your web site.
Write Articles
Write articles and submit them to ezines. One of the more popular and well respected ezines is EzineArticles.com. There are many ezine directories on the internet. Become familiar with them and submit your articles to several. Each submission should be unique. Don't submit the same article to several directories.

Join Squidoo and Become a Lens Master
The Squidoo Lens is a very special animal in the internet marketing world. Squidoo ranks high in Google. When you share your knowledge on a Squidoo Lens, your area of expertise can be found by your target audience.
These are the basics of developing your personal brand. There's more to it and you can learn more by joining a professional internet marketing forum. It's important to understand the fundamentals of internet marketing so you can:
- A. Do it yourself
- B. Outsource intelligently
Applied knowledge is power and it's never been truer than online, especially for realtor marketing. There are many people that will sell you a package of "marketing expertise" that simply won't deliver your expectations of more business. Once you know how things are done properly, you can outsource any of it. You'll be more savvy about whom to work with as well. Take realtor marketing seriously and you will be well rewarded with increased income.

- I really like what you did with this lens. Often I shrug off Squidoo because I think it may look a little immature, but this page is a great example of how you can keep it clean and point people out to good resources ;)
