Reason is the best program for music production. Its adaptable to a wide range of styles and works just like real audio equipment. Once you learn Reason you'll be able to take your knowlege and apply. if you don't know anything at all about making music, get the guide book as well.

Chip Collection Malstrom Pack
48 really weird Malstrom patches. Kind of like a combination between FX and 80s keyboard sounds. There is a sweet sub bass patch in there.

Alternate: Check ebay for a copy of Reason, if $300 is too expensive 

Alot of times you can pick up old versions of software at a good discount on ebay. I wouldn't go and get anything later than 2.5 though. 3.0 is the best. Its got a better sound than any other version, as well as great effects and mastering plugins.

Join the Reason Community 

You gotta join the reason community if you want to find and download free stuff. Alot of people post their sounds in the forums for download. There are all kinds of Synth, Drum machine, loops available.
Reason Station
One of the first communities for the software.
Reason Freaks
This is a good place for beginners. They also have better news on new refill releases. A good 5000 people are on the site at any time of the day.
Chip Collection
They have a nintendo NES refill demo for download. The full version is for pay ($20) and is really great, but if you need a little NES this is good. They also carry synth packs and chip tunes sounds like the JX-8p and Casio SK1. Has digital delivery. Very good pricing!
ReasonBanks
They carry commercial products, but have their own demos to download.
Reason-Why
I love this site. Its japanese, so I can't read a single thing on their page. Difficult to search, but easy to browse. Click on the names and you'll be able to download. Massive resource. Rare stuff too. Its a gem.
